How you will make an impact:
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Cost Accountant III in Costa Rica. The Cost Accountant will be a key partner and support all businesses in setting accurate standard costs for new SKUs and ensuring that new inventory is valued correctly on the Balance Sheet.
What you will do:
Lead and support inventory-related accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established policies
Prepare and review journal entries as part of the monthly close, including account reconciliations, roll forwards, and variance analysis
Analyze financial results and investigate variances to provide insights and drive issue resolution
Support and help drive key cost accounting processes, including inventory valuation, excess and obsolete inventory, and annual cost updates
Coordinate and manage data inputs and system updates across ERP platforms to support costing activities
Develop and enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and analyses to support business decision-making
Partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes, strengthen controls, and ensure alignment on cost-related activities
Support internal and external audit activities by ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with requirements
Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives and special projects as needed
How will you get here:
Requirements:
Advanced College Bachelor student related with the position or 5 years of experience in similar positions
B2+ English Level
Experience in Cost Accounting and Manufacturing is preferred.
Experience utilizing ERP systems such as SAP and JD Edwards is required, preferably in Costing.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in Excel advanced formulas and PowerPoint
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to interface effectively at all levels and demonstrate good judgment, and tact and diplomacy with internal customers. Self-initiative, strong organization skills, and a positive attitude are helpful.
Experience working in a matrixed organization is preferred.
Minimal travel required.
