Job Summary

The Correspondence Unit Liaison is responsible for providing customer service assistance to constituents via all written formats. This position reports to the Lead Correspondence Liaison.

Essential Functions

  • Respond to constituent requests for ceremonial documents received via fax, email and US mail.
  • Input constituent information into the Correspondence Unit database.
  • Provide verbiage for ceremonial documents.
  • Prepare and distribute ceremonial documents.
  • Assist in the dissemination of all correspondence received by the Mayor’s Office by preparing and distributing Transfer Memo’s and Action Requests
  • Act as liaison between constituents and various city agencies on behalf of the Mayor to satisfy their requests.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Inform the Lead Correspondence Liaison, Deputy Director and Director of all important or high alert issues and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

AND

Experience: Have two years of related experience.

OR

Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High degree of skill in technical and creative writing.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal government structure and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of governmental etiquette and protocol.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with offices of elected officials, city government agencies, constituents, other organizations and businesses.
  • Knowledge of Baltimore City history and culture.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Strong research skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel & Outlook.

Background Check

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening, and must be successfully completed.

Probation

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.
