The Corrective Action Program (CAP) is a foundational component of the NiSource Safety Management System and a critical driver of operational excellence at NiSource. It offers a simple way to document identified risks and utilize a systematic process to review, prioritize, address, and track progress to reduce risks.
The CAP Specialist is responsible for the timely, accurate screening and assignment of CAP Condition Report and asset related Event and Near Miss submissions through the CAP Digital Platform. The CAP Specialist is also responsible for assisting the Operational Excellence Lead – CAP Execution with supporting stakeholders through various CAP Condition Report workflow steps and preparation of State Risk Table meetings.
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Ensure the timely, accurate processing of CAP Condition Reports and asset related Events and Near Miss reports in accordance with CAP review process from screening to evaluation. This includes outreach to CAP Condition Report and asset related Events and Near Miss submitters.
Attend and present screening assignments during daily CAP Review Board Meetings
Assist with the preparation of State Risk Table meetings
Act as a safety champion. Influence and inspire others to uphold safety and risk expectations and to identify and correct conditions that affect the safety of the public, our employees and contractor partners.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Experience listed below could be obtained through a combination of school work, classes, research, or any relevant previous job or internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
1+ year of customer service experience
Experience analyzing data and determining trends
Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders with all levels of the organization (front line employees, leaders, managers, and executives)
Ability to learn new systems and become proficient with them (e.g. Corrective Action Program / Safety Management Systems)
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree or two years equivalent work experience.
1+ year of experience working in the utility industry, with electric or gas operational experience
Safety Management System experience working with a Corrective Action Program for risk management
Knowledge and understanding of American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice (RP) 1173

Salary Range*:
$69,900.00 - $105,000.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
