What You'll Do
- Perform detailed risk assessments for corporate clients, identifying and documenting key compliance risks.
- Execute Customer Due Diligence (CDD) for complex corporate clients, including Simplified and Enhanced Due Diligence processes.
- Conduct internal and external partner AML audits to ensure ongoing compliance standards are met.
- Screen clients for Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and Sanctioned Individuals, including against UK financial sanctions lists administered by OFSI and HM Treasury.
- Review and recommend changes to compliance policies and procedures to align with Modulr's regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective compliance across the business.
Who You Are
The ideal Corporate Onboarding Associate will thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment and be comfortable with change and ambiguity. You bring 2–5 years of experience in compliance and onboarding.
What you'll need
- Solid understanding of UK financial crime regulations, including MLR 2017, JMLSG Guidance, POCA 2002, Terrorism Act 2000, and FCA financial crime rules (SYSC).
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in Customer Due Diligence (CDD), KYB, or Audit roles within financial services.
- Proven analytical skills - able to identify patterns, risks, or anomalies in onboarding and audit processes.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage internal stakeholders and clients alike.
- High ethical standards, with strong attention to detail and a sense of responsibility and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively, taking ownership of compliance processes end-to-end.
- Adaptable and proactive - comfortable navigating regulatory or operational change and finding practical solutions.
Nice to haves
- Familiarity with EU/Dutch financial crime frameworks (Wwft, Sanctiewet 1970, Wft) or broader EU AML Directives (AMLD4/5/6).
- An ICA (International Compliance Association) qualification in AML, KYC, or Compliance.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or sectors within financial services.
