OVERVIEW

ISS STOXX is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate to join our Corporate Governance Research team in Sydney, supporting coverage of the Australian and New Zealand markets. This role focuses on conducting in‑depth analysis of companies within the S&P/ASX 300 Index, producing high‑quality research reports and voting recommendations for institutional investor clients. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with regional and global ISS analysts, engage with corporate issuers, contribute to policy development, and participate in research initiatives and white papers on emerging governance trends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze financial, company, and corporate governance information to produce high‑quality research reports and proxy voting recommendations aligned with ISS policy guidelines.

  • Develop deep subject‑matter expertise in areas such as executive compensation, board composition and effectiveness, shareholder rights, and the regulatory environment across Australia and New Zealand.

  • Build and maintain strong market knowledge of regional corporate governance trends, investment issues, and shareholder considerations.

  • Respond to inquiries from internal teams, clients, and companies regarding research findings and governance policies (following relevant training).

  • Engage with issuers and contribute insights to discussions on governance matters and policy topics.

  • Partner with ISS analysts and experts globally to support ad hoc research, thematic reports, and analysis on emerging or contentious issues in domestic and international markets.

  • Work closely with ISS’ global data, product, and analytics teams to support data capture, verification, and research processes.

  • Contribute to ISS working groups and cross‑team initiatives, with opportunities to take part in special projects, research enhancements, and process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed a Bachelor’s or Post-graduate Degree in Economics, Law, Finance, Accounting, or a similarly relevant field (preferred)

  • Has at least 3-5 years of experience in corporate governance, financial services, executive compensation, legal, consulting or related fields.

  • Strong analytical capabilities with solid financial literacy and a demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; intermediate Excel skills are an advantage.

  • Must be eligible to work/ have full working rights in the county.
