Summary

Responsible for achieving supply expense management initiatives and targets utilizing the value analysis process on a total annual spend in excess of $130 million. Will direct the value analysis process to provide high quality, efficient, and cost-effective products and services. This process will require the establishment and adherence to a streamlined method for standardizing and monitoring product/service selection, utilization, and costs. Will provide clinical and strategic expertise that facilitates supply expense management while continuously improving all processes that support patient care, education and research. Works closely with the VP of Supply Chain to accurately report and manage the overall implementation of supply chain improvement efforts related to the Value Analysis process.

Major Job Functions

    • Lead the end-to-end value analysis process, including product/service introduction, evaluation, trials, conversion, and tracking of outcomes.

    • Partner with physicians, clinicians, and department leaders to assess needs, ensure clinical alignment, and support positive outcomes.

    • Identify, prioritize, and manage cost-containment opportunities; drive annual cost-reduction and cost-avoidance initiatives and maintain accurate financial tracking.

    • Analyze product/service utilization, expenditures, and performance; prepare objective reports, cost analyses, and recommendations.

    • Coordinate vendor engagement, outlining expectations and supporting contract negotiations.

    • Guide project teams through value analysis procedures, Steering Committee preparation, proposal development, and agenda prioritization.

    • Collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, Materials Management, suppliers, and user groups to support conversions, resolve product issues, and manage recalls.

    • Maintain policies, procedures, savings documentation, and reporting tools for the value analysis program.

    • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams, workgroups, and committees to improve processes, quality, and customer service.

    • Serve as a resource for cost-effective product/service selection, utilization, and benchmarking; develop education to increase accountability for supply expense management.

    • Monitor healthcare technology, regulatory changes, and industry trends to inform product/service decisions.

    • Build strong relationships with leadership, physicians, and clinical stakeholders to support supply chain and organizational initiatives.

    • Address emergent issues promptly while balancing stakeholder needs and consulting legal or risk management when necessary.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

    Education and Formal Training

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Industrial Engineering, or Finance required

    • Masters in Business Administration, Health Science, or related discipline preferred

    Work Experience

    • 7 years in a progressively more responsible role in a healthcare and/or supply chain environment

    • 5 years in Value Analysis Leadership preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

    • Experience in cost containment and expense management activities

    • Proven management skills, including program planning and development, project management, and performance and quality management

    • Demonstrated analytical experience with knowledge of financial and accounting concepts

    • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to drive consensus

    • Computer competency — Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required

    • Knowledge of Access desirable

    • Strong communication skills, which will encompass both oral and written including the ability to give presentations to physicians, clinicians, and administrators

    • Demonstrated problem-resolution skills

    • Understands inter-workings of supply chain activities

    • Ability to interact and manage relationships with vendors

    Physical Requirements

    • Verbal ability is required to communicate effectively with all constituents

    • Finger dexterity and motor coordination are required to work keys of computer and calculator
