Corporate Contracting Manager

This opportunity entails being responsible for improving firm wide gross margin and associated earnings via Design Build and select Ultra and Super mega pursuits and clients, as well as mitigating risk to the firm. Manages HNTB’s overall contracting processes from early stages of pursuits through contract execution and project delivery. Leads project teams through HNTB’s corporate approach to developing and implementing contracting strategies, including preparing for and conducting negotiations, supporting risk and value assessments, pricing approaches, and developing contract documents such as Teaming Agreements, Memorandums of Understanding, Design Services Agreements for contractors and owners, Joint Venture, and sub-consultant agreements. Serves as central point of contact for all assigned projects and facilitates coordination of any and all corporate resources needed to support the successful negotiation of fair, reasonable and profitable contract documents.

What You'll Do:

  • Functions as the primary contact and manager of the established contracting and negotiation process to support both the core and Design-Build mega pursuits as well as select clients. Aggressively leads project teams to achieve significant improvements of financial (GM/ER) and risk elements in contracting by facilitating them through all steps of the HNTB Sophisticated Contracting process.
  • Assists business units in achieving HNTB’s financial and risk management goals by understanding office budget commitments, accurately assessing baseline GM, establishing aggressive target GM, and facilitating effective negotiation strategy and preparation to include participation in actual client negotiations to achieve improved contracted GM.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders (business units, divisions, offices) and external stakeholders (clients) to fully implement HNTB’s contracting initiative, ensuring alignment of the firm’s strategy with daily operations.
  • Works with HNTB management in rigorously monitoring progress and results on supported pursuits. Works with Division Leadership to drive, provide guidance, and support efforts by local office contracting managers.
  • Leads HNTB’s contract and negotiations training programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or related field
  • 15 years engineering, design, construction, planning, or related experience

What We Prefer:

  • 20+ years direct client contracting and negotiation experience in the A&E industry. Direct experience on collaborative/alternative delivery projects (Design Build, PDB, PDP, CMAR).
