Job Summary

Responsible for performing multiple compliance program projects and activities, including policy interpretation, compliance investigations, regulatory research, program reporting, compliance education and training, risk assessment, and auditing and monitoring activities related to all aspects of Memorial Hermann's complex business environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Bachelors degree preferably in business, healthcare, or equivalent degree;  Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, MHA, JD, etc.) preferred

Licenses/Certifications:  (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience preferably in compliance, legal, healthcare, auditing, or consulting, or an equivalent combination of experience and Masters or Doctoral level education

  • Demonstrates integrity, discretion, flexibility, and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong project management and organization skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to think critically when evaluating problems and making decisions

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret information related to business operations and processes

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create accurate reports and deliver information verbally and in writing

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact and build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Principal Accountabilities

  • Performs a variety compliance program projects and activities and supports day-to-day operation of the compliance program.

  • Assists with the administration of the compliance helpline, including reviewing and resolving reported concerns.

  • Analyzes and interprets data related to healthcare operations and processes.

  • Performs research and provides guidance on regulatory requirements.

  • Assists with compliance investigations and audits related to all aspects of Memorial Hermann’s operations.

  • Maintains tracking systems for compliance department activities and prepares timely and accurate reports for delivery to senior management, the compliance committee, and the board.

  • Participates in the creation and delivery of compliance education and training.

  • Develops and interprets compliance policies and procedures.

  • Participates in risk assessment activities and the development of corrective actions.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
