Job Description:

The Strategic Communications team exists to tell the TDI story in a way that resonates – connecting colleagues to our mission, strengthening culture, and supporting leaders as they inspire action.

In this role, you’ll lead the development and delivery of strategic, meaningful internal communications that inform, engage, and inspire — supporting leaders and major initiatives across TD Insurance. You’ll also drive external social media communications for TD Insurance as an extension of our colleague story and culture.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, this role goes beyond execution to play a critical part in shaping how TD Insurance connects with colleagues. Acting as a trusted communications advisor, you’ll lead strategy, advisory, storytelling, and digital execution, with a strong emphasis on engagement, culture, and impact in ways that strengthen trust, foster belonging, and bring the TD Way to life.

Key Responsibilities:

Shape the TDI Narrative

  • Lead internal communications strategies that align to TDI’s mission, priorities, and business outcomes
  • Craft compelling narratives that translate business strategy into clear, compelling messaging and reflect TDI’s culture and growth ambitions
  • Design communication approaches that foster two‑way dialogue, feedback, and connection
  • Use a mix of channels — email, leadership forums, town halls, Viva Engage, etc. to reach diverse colleague audiences
  • Create communications that reinforce trust, celebrate progress, and build pride across TDI

 Drive Digital & Social Engagement

  • Lead the strategic development of digital and social platforms (e.g., Viva Engage and external social channels such as LinkedIn) to support engagement, awareness, and alignment, including content planning, publishing cadence, approvals, and channel governance
  • Develop content and activation strategies that increase reach, participation, and dialogue — including writing and producing platform‑appropriate posts, campaigns, and storytelling assets
  • Track and report on channel performance (e.g., reach, engagement, follower growth and click‑throughs), translating insights into recommendations to continuously improve content and channel strategy
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen digital leadership presence, including thought leadership and channel‑appropriate storytelling

Support Leaders and Strategic Initiatives

  • Act as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders on line of business priorities
  • Develop executive communications, including scripts, speaking notes, and leadership messages
  • Support transformation, culture, and change initiatives with thoughtful, human‑centred communications

Measurement and Partnership

  • Define and track communications effectiveness across reach, engagement, and sentiment to inform future communications and continuously improve strategies, channels, and content
  • Share learnings and best practices across the Strategic Communications team
  • Champion communications standards, best practices, and consistency across initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate, internal, or strategic communications (or consulting)
  • Proven experience leading high‑impact communication strategies for complex organizations
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging messaging
  • Professional writing excellence — particularly for executive and leadership audiences and proven experience in executive speech writing
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media communications, including LinkedIn channel management, content strategy, channel optimization, and performance measurement
  • Experience providing communications counsel to senior leaders
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and evolving priorities
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for colleague experience and culture
  • Post‑secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related discipline
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required
