Job Description:

As the Corporate Affairs intern (3 months internship), you will have the opportunity to provide key legislative and governmental affairs support activities, analysis, legislative tracking, processes and research functions on behalf of the United States Corporate Affairs Office and all its disciplines. The position provides legislative and related support inputs and the opportunity to work directly with the internal and external government affairs teams.


Functions and key to success:

  • Support Department’s key US state and federal legislation tracking/capture functions and report directly to the Corporate Affairs team. Maintain and improve individual state and federal systems for tracking/evaluating. 
  • Support Department’s key state and federal legislative interests and priorities. Provide in-depth analysis of a wide range of legislative areas, legislative processes, supporting current and future commercial interests of Department engagements. 
  • Coordinate external government affairs and related consulting contracts (federal and state) in existing or commercial markets of interest, ensuring legal and ethical compliance, negotiated contract elements, terminations and schedules, compensation, and annual evaluations of effectiveness. 
  • Organize government affairs coordination of state strategic planning and documents together with internal concessions and consultants. 
  • Support tracking and evaluation of key corporate US responses to elected and appointed government officials, with responsibilities, to include tracking of issues management and coordinating response among multiple corporate divisions. 
  • Act to provide key research and strategic support of Ferrovial business unit engagements and commercial issue management efforts when initiated by Department.
  • Assist in research processes informing corporate positions utilized in written position pieces, research overviews, and talking points. 
  • Provide corporate affairs support for departmental management needs, particularly to the commercial areas, in support of procurement activities before municipalities and states. 
  • Reports directly to the Corporate Affairs team.
  • Assist with research and presentations relative to public affairs commercial interests and engagements. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary. 

Requirements:

  • Student, or recent graduate from local university (University of Texas, St. Edwards University, Texas State University, Concordia University) with ability to at the Cintra U.S. Headquarters Office (9600 Great Hills Trail, Suite 250 E, Austin, TX 78759) for 16 hours a week (2 days, Tuesday and Thursday).
  • Past work or internship in state government a plus.


What you bring to the table:


You are a student pursuing a higher education degree or a recent graduate interested in government and the private sector. Past work or internships in government or government affairs is preferred but not required.
