Role Overview:

Reporting to the Team Manager, this role is a subject matter expert in all corporate actions events for securities held domestically and internationally, in multiple systems. This role requires the ability to research/solve complex issues, reviewing tax consequence, analyzing and completing legal documentation (i.e. escrows, tax reclaims), reducing exposure within the firm (i.e. depo alignment), handle escalations, interact with clients, alleviate workload, provide relief to management, and maintain good working relationships with issuers, depositories, brokers/counterparties etc.

What You Will Do:

  • Interpret complex corporate action announcements and accurately publish them for clients
  • Assess client impact and prepare entitlement calculations prior to posting payment
  • Research and adjust for any discrepancies (e.g., discrepancies across depositories). 
  • Process physical certificate exchanges for privately held securities 
  • Act as a subject matter expert on corporate actions (event knowledge, process knowledge)  
  • Deliver stellar quality customer service to our internal and external customers (i.e. brokers/counterparties, Agents, Issuers) to exceed expectations and create a positive experience 
  • Participation as a project lead/member/SME for projects, initiatives and conversions 
  • Participation in audits, risk assessments, and process reviews
  • Interact directly - verbal and written - with clients (IAs and middle offices), as well as 3rd parties (agents, issuers, counterparties).  
  • Follows policy and procedure changes to ensure proper controls are maintained 
  • Assists in creating procedures that are designed to strengthen quality and risk controls. 
  • Always follows key controls 
  • Other assigned departmental tasks

The Experience You Bring:

  • Completion of Post-Secondary Education, or Equivalent Experience
  • More than 5 years of experience in securities/brokerage industry, ideally with a minimum of 3 years in Entitlements Processing including but not limited to tax and legal implications for the client
  • Extensive knowledge of financial transaction processing, settlements or corporate actions/income
  • concepts and techniques and reconciliation methodology and standards
  • Knowledge and experience with Dataphile is an asset
  • Completion or enrolment in the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) course is an asset

  • Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: A competitive annual range of $60,000 to $95,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
