Who we are looking for

The Assistant Vice President – Controllers serves as a senior Service Delivery and Transformation Lead, providing accounting oversight across North America legal entities. This role partners closely with Controllers, Global Accounting Operations (GAO), Regulatory Reporting, and FP&A to ensure strong governance, effective service delivery, and a robust control environment.

In addition to Business‑As‑Usual (BAU) responsibilities, this role is accountable for driving process re‑engineering, standardization, and automation initiatives to modernize finance operations, improve scalability, and reduce operational risk.

What you will be responsible for

Service Delivery & Controllership

  • Act as primary liaison between Business Unit and Legal Entity Controllers, GAO, Regulatory Reporting, and FP&A.
  • Serve as an escalation point for accounting, service delivery, and control issues impacting business units or legal entities.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise on complex accounting matters, transactions, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee SLA performance, KPIs, KRIs, and error trends; partner with GAO and Risk Governance to drive remediation.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory, legal‑entity, and internal control requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation and review of audit materials.

Process Re‑Engineering, Standardization & Automation

  • Lead end‑to‑end process re‑engineering initiatives focused on simplification, control strengthening, and efficiency.
  • Drive standardization of accounting processes, controls, and documentation across Controllers and GAO.
  • Partner with Global Process Owners, Technology, and Transformation teams to implement automation and digital solutions.
  • Champion adoption of standardized workflows, reporting, and monitoring capabilities.
  • Establish governance and change‑management practices to ensure sustainable implementation of process improvements.
  • Promote a continuous‑improvement culture and share best practices across teams.

Project & Change Leadership

  • Lead or contribute to cross‑functional initiatives, including regulatory changes, system implementations, and new transactions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, narratives, and flowcharts.
  • Ensure deliverables are executed within committed timelines through disciplined planning and stakeholder coordination.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a large financial institution and/or Big 4 public accounting environment.
  • Proven experience leading process improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives in complex organizations.

Salary Range:

$70,000 - $130,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
