Compensation Range

About This Job
The main purpose of this role is to own the technology strategy, roadmap, delivery, and operational health of Commerce Bank’s core banking application domain supporting customer and deposit capabilities. This leader partners with business product leadership and cross‑functional technology teams to translate business priorities into an executable application roadmap, modernize core capabilities, and ensure the platform and its integrations deliver secure, stable, scalable, and well‑controlled outcomes.
This position is focused on core banking platforms, business capability enablement, application change delivery, and lifecycle management - not infrastructure operations.
Essential Functions
Align business priorities, regulatory needs, customer impact, and technical strategy into an executable roadmap
Lead application change across the full lifecycle including requirements, solution design, vendor coordination, development, testing, release, and stabilization
Drive modernization of core banking capabilities, integrations, data flows, and supporting processes
Ensure application availability, performance, recoverability, supportability, and control effectiveness
Evaluate vendor solutions, product capabilities, and platform roadmap options
Partner with architecture, engineering, operations, information security, risk, and business stakeholders to deliver changes safely and effectively
Prioritize technical improvements that reduce risk, address technical debt, enhance service quality, and support future capabilities
Make trade‑off decisions across business demand, technical debt, risk remediation, vendor dependencies, and platform sustainability
Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for application planning, delivery, and domain ownership activities
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Deep knowledge of core banking application ecosystems, integration patterns, APIs, and data flows
Strong understanding of application lifecycle management, release management, service reliability, operational risk, controls, and change governance
Proven ability to develop application strategy, build roadmaps, and lead execution across complex platforms
Skilled in leading and developing teams and partnering with business leaders to translate priorities into technology outcomes
Experience working with business‑critical platforms, vendor‑supported applications, and third‑party technology providers
Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and stakeholder management skills across technical and non‑technical groups
Strong judgment, ownership mindset, and ability to drive results in dynamic environments.
Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical audiences
Strong business acumen with the ability to document and articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship‑building skills with clear and effective verbal and written communication
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a positive, collaborative environment

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent combination on education and experience required
6+ years of experience in technology, including substantial experience in application ownership, application product management, application delivery leadership, or business‑critical platform leadership required
4+ years leading complex application initiatives in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments required
3+ years leadership/supervisory experience preferred
Experience in core banking, deposits, customer information, account servicing, transaction processing, or related banking application domains preferred
Experience with core banking platform modernization, conversion, integration, or major enhancement programs preferred
Experience leading cross‑functional teams in agile or hybrid delivery models preferred
*Hybrid Schedule: In office 2 days per week

At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $119,000 to $163,000 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
