General Summary:
The Coordinator for Orientation, Transition, and Retention, under general direction, develops and implements effective extended and transfer orientation programs which provide activities for students to thrive, connect, and achieve to help students find a sense of belonging and persist to attain their goal to graduate from WT. This staff member will play a key role in programming for transfer students.
*Salary Range: $35,568–$43,160.04 annually. Final salary is based on education and related experience. *
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of the University’s transfer student and extended orientation programs using the curricular approach.
- Serve as the primary host for New Student Orientations (NSOs), creating a welcoming and informative experience for families, while providing ongoing support throughout the year through Facebook groups, webinars, and consistent communication initiatives.
- Responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of the University’s year-round student online orientation programs to include, but not limited to, orientation, transfer orientation, international orientation, and hybrid orientation models.
- Advises student employees in the planning and implementation of Buff Branding.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate Family Weekend, coordinating logistics, campus partnerships, and programming to create an engaging and meaningful experience for students and their families.
- Collaborate with community college partners to host transfer events at WT and on community college campuses.
- Oversees recruitment and training of approximately 60 student leader volunteers to assist with Buff Branding.
- Responsible for assessment of Buff Branding and Transfer Orientation programs.
- Manages the Buff Branding Budget.
- Serves as a member of the Orientation and Academic Success team in support of all undergraduate students to help them find a sense of belonging, provide academic support to undergraduate students to help them become engaged learners and demonstrate academic determination, and collaborate with other departments on retention initiatives to help more students persist to attain their goal to graduate from WT.
- Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.

Necessary Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) or more years of experience working with university students or student development programs.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and University personnel.
- Exceptional event planning and coordination skills including orientation development and execution.
- Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Must be comfortable in and familiar with a team-centered, cross-trained, collaborative environment.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
- One (1) year working with orientation programs.
- Experience with extended orientation programs and transfer student programs.
- Experience with Family Programs and Support.
