Job Description:

The Coordinator of Events and Membership is responsible for the strategic development, coordination, and execution of the LSU Museum of Art’s membership program and special events. This position focuses on increasing membership engagement, retention, and revenue through innovative programming, donor cultivation events, and community outreach initiatives. The coordinator plays a key role in advancing the Museum’s mission by enhancing audience development, strengthening member relationships, and supporting fundraising efforts through high-quality events and experiences.

This role requires strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, along with experience in database management, event coordination, and financial tracking. The ideal candidate can manage multiple priorities, work both independently and collaboratively, and contribute to the museum’s overall operational and strategic goals.

Job Responsibilities:

MEMBERSHIP MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION – 30%

• Maintain the membership database, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data integrity

• Input, track, and update all membership records, including new memberships, renewals, and upgrades

• Coordinate with LSU Foundation staff to synchronize membership systems

• Maintain policies and procedures for membership data management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries and services

• Responsible for fulfillment of membership benefits, including cards, guest passes, and partner offerings

MEMBERSHIP FINANCE, REPORTING & ENGAGEMENT – 30%

• Process and deposit membership payments and maintain accurate financial records

• Generate monthly membership reports and analytics for leadership

• Track trends and provide insights to support strategic decision-making

• Collaborate with the Communications Specialist and Director of Development to develop and implement membership campaigns

• Identify and target prospective members and implement strategies to convert visitors into members

• Coordinate targeted communications and support retention initiatives to increase engagement

EVENTS, RENTALS & REVENUE GENERATION – 15%

• Identify and pursue revenue opportunities through facility rentals and event programming

• Promote rental spaces and implement strategies for sustained growth

• Coordinate all event logistics, including contracts, catering, décor, rentals, seating, and production

• Responsible for directing student workers and event support staff, including task delegation and prioritization

• Maintain vendor relationships to support full-service events

• Analyze event performance through data, surveys, and feedback to improve outcomes

PROGRAMMATIC, FUNDRAISING & SPECIAL EVENTS – 10%

• Coordinate exhibition openings, receptions, and other museum programs to ensure high-quality experiences

• Collaborate with building partners to align scheduling and maximize attendance

• Support event strategies and series to attract new audiences

• Support sponsorship development and engagement of event underwriters

MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS & OUTREACH – 10%

• Assist in developing and implementing marketing plans for membership, events, and rentals

• Collaborate with the Communications Specialist on promotions and outreach efforts

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES – 5%

• Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and organizational needs

• Support cross-departmental collaboration to advance museum goals

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor' degree in membership services, event management, marketing, or a related field with 2 years of experience
