School of Information Studies

Coordinator of Academic Area 1- Hourly

The School of Information Studies is accepting applications for an Academic Coordinator 1. This position provides academic and administrative support to the graduate programs In the School of Information Studies. The person in this position will be responsible for student services to SIS graduate students; collecting, maintaining, and reporting data pertaining to SIS students and programs; and assisting the director, associate director, business manager, and digital communications specialist in support of the program as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Student Services- 60%

Responds to requests for Information about SIS programs in a timely manner; assists with developing and uploading course schedules; develops enrollment reports; responds to student questions regarding enrollment and registration; assists students with enrollment/registration issues; works with faculty to develop the textbook and adopt textbooks; advises students; monitors student progress; processes student forms

Data Collection, Maintenance, Reporting- 20%

Maintains database of relevant information regarding SIS students, course enrollments, graduates, etc.; creates regularly scheduled reports based on the data; creates specialized reports as requested.

Administrative- 10%

Provides administrative support to the school Curriculum Committee and ad hoc committees
when needed; attends campus meetings about student records, registration, and Graduate School
policies/procedures.

Other Activities/special projects as requested - 10%

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Studies or related field. 1-3 years of experience with customer service or academic support.

Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
