Under the direction of the Infection Prevention Manager, the Coordinator, Infection Prevention is responsible for the effective direction, management and operation of the infection prevention and control department. This role supports operational workflows, data analysis and education initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accurate surveillance and reporting and consistent implementation of infection prevention practices. The coordinator collaborates with clinical and operational teams, supports performance improvement activities and promotes best practices to reduce infection risk and enhance patient and caregiver safety across the organization.

A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. On-call rotation every 9 weeks. Will work home from home 1 day per week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Conduct and document infection control surveillance activities.
  • Collect and perform statistical analysis of hospital onset infection data.
  • Generate reports, identify trends, evaluate activities and make recommendations to improve results.
  • Collaborate with infection control committee to develop and implement infection control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate committee meetings and activities to ensure policy compliance.
  • Collaborate with Infection Prevention Managers to coordinate infection prevention activities.
  • Participate in environmental safety rounds.
  • Coordinate the annual review, revision and evaluation of the organization's Infection Control Plan.
  • Monitor compliance. Conduct education and documents completed education.
  • Serve as infection control resource.
  • Collaborate with external review and reporting agencies.
  • Comply with agency standards and participate in survey readiness activities.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related healthcare field with strong clinical background in acute care and ambulatory care setting
  • Certification by Association for Professional in Infection Control (CIC) within one year of hire
  • Five years Healthcare experience in a hospital setting
  • Three years Infection Prevention experience in a hospital setting

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires frequent standing and walking.
  • Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
  • 24/7 availability via pager for consultation.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
