Who are we hiring?
The Coordinator Communications is a core member of the MSG Sports Communications team, providing support for a broad range of communications activities related to the MSG Sports & MSG Networks publicity & business PR strategy. The Coordinator reports to the VP Communications and works closely with the rest of the staff across MSG Sports Communications. This position supports the team on research and timely creation of materials for high-profile projects including Company announcements, Social Impact/Community Relations programs, Proactive Press Metrics Updates, Garden of Dreams initiatives and public media events.
What will you do?
· Plays a central role with team-wide exposure through a combination of project management responsibilities and media relations support, as well as compiling department’s weekly report and SVP weekly report to MSG Sports COO.
· Supports drafting various MSG Sports/MSG Networks communications materials including briefing documents, bios, media analysis, media alerts, etc.
· Assists in the execution of media announcements and events, including preparing media lists, compiling coverage reports, and maintaining measurable metrics
· Takes lead on team organizational documents such as meeting agendas, media lists, planning documents, project timelines and media metrics tracking documents
· Maintains the accuracy of various corporate materials, such as boilerplates, bios, photos, etc.
· Provides event planning and on-site support for external media events
· Works with members of the media as needed and directed
· Monitors media for relevant coverage as it relates to Company initiatives
· Monitors industry news, including the identification of potential timely and creative opportunities for stories.
What do you need to succeed?
· Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ relevant work experience, including internships
· Proficient in Microsoft suite and Sharepoint (i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with WordPress, and PR tools (e.g., Cision, Businesswire, Muck Rack and Meltwater) a plus
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Well-organized with strong attention to detail
· Executes initiatives with effective follow through
· Proactive in managing assignments, anticipating needs, meeting deadlines, and raising issues
· Eagerness to deepen understanding of both the Company’s business and its brands
· Exercises a high level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
· Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to identify creative solutions
· Comfortable working cross-functionally
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously and enthusiastically
