Major Responsibilities: Manages the sterile supplies, non-sterile stock items used in the Operating Room. 1)• Inventories supplies and orders when necessary to ensure that the needs of the Operating Rooms are met. 2)• Establishes, maintains and alters par levels to be consistent with usage patterns in the Operating Room. 3)• Works within the parameters of the Lawson System to ensure supplies are received in a timely manner. 4)• Anticipates needs to ensure rush delivery charges are minimized. 5)• Manages the consignment levels of implants and supplies. 6)• Works with Distribution to ensure the timely replenishment of warehouse stock. Manages the Special Order Needs of the Operating Room. 1)• Collaborates with surgery scheduler, clinical leader and surgeons to obtain special requests. 2)• Places orders with the manufacturer and sales representative, or confirms that purchasing has placed the order. 3)• Coordinates the arrival of special orders in a timely manner and communicates to the clinical leader and room staff. 4)Works colsely with the OR clinical leads in each specialty to determine needs and increase / decrease par levels as needed. Serves as a Surgical Liaison. 1)• Serves as a liaison to Sterile Processing Department, Surgical Services clinical resource staff, Material Management, Purchasing, Distribution, Lawson Coordinator and Operating Room ancillary staff. Coordinates Instrumentation and Equipment. 1)• Collaborates with the Surgery scheduler and/or Clinical Leader to prepare and facilitate the surgery schedule needs. 2)• Coordinates the use of loaner equipment. 3)• Manages the return and exchange of overstock. 4)• Coordinates with Sterile Processing Department the timely delivery of instrumentation. Maintains a safe, organized and efficient work environment. 1)• Maintains a clean, neat work area. 2)• Maintains Operating Room stock and supplies in accordance with established layouts of carts and in the order listed on Lawson templates. 3)• Monitors established policies and procedures for proper storage and handling of supplies. 4)• Maintains backup stock stored in Sterile Processing Department in an organized manner. 5)• Works to ensure that Operating Room supplies are easily identified and accessible. Education/Experience Required: High School diploma or GED 2to 3 years inventory experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Skilled in utilizing spreadsheet statistics, word processing and surgical inventory software. Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills Computer skills Good people skills. N/A Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to work under time constraints in a fast-paced environment. Ability to use computer systems. Ability to perform lifting, up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently, and 10-20 pounds consistently. Ability to flex hours as needed. Ability to adapt to change in work assignments and environment. Must wear proper Operating Room attire. Ability to communicate with others while wearing a mask. Ability to communicate via phone or intercom. This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 04/20/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
