When we do everything in service of our patients and caregivers, no detail gets ignored, and Mercy Hospital understands that part of staying well is keeping up with nutritional needs. As a Cook/Baker, you will cook and prepare a variety of food for patients, caregivers, special events and visitors.
A caregiver in this position works full-time| 10:30am—7:00pm or 11:00am—7:30pm| every other weekend and holiday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared.
Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods.
Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food will be ready at specified times.
Confer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers.
Adhere to HACCP guidelines in the storage, handling, and preparation of food and in the sanitation and maintenance of work area.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED.
Two years prior cooking experience in a variety of menu items.
Knowledge of proper food handling, preparation and storage.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Successful completion of a formal training program for cooks or 3 or more years related experience.
Successful completion of a culinary certification program.
