The Role 

  • Oversee daily operations and administration of the kitchen, including dry and cold storage areas. 

  • Supervise the preparation and timely service of high-quality, nutritious meals for participants at the Gold Coast Recovery Services Centre, ensuring alignment with the values and ethos of The Salvation Army. 

  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to kitchen staff. 

How You Will Make an Impact 

  • Perform duties in line with The Salvation Army’s policies, procedures, WHS standards, and best practices. 

  • Engage professionally and compassionately with all participants in a multidisciplinary setting, always maintaining confidentiality. 

  • Prepare high volumes of meals that meet dietary, religious, and allergy-related requirements, while minimizing waste, effectively utilizing donated goods, and managing time and resources efficiently. 

  • Understand and comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements related to the role. 

  • Meet and exceed WHS, Food Safety, and HACCP standards, conduct necessary audits, and provide reports to management. 

  • Ensure all work in the kitchen and dining areas adheres to correct food-handling procedures in line with HACCP guidelines. 

What You Will Bring 

  • Strong knowledge of safe food-handling practices. 

  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to obtain one. 

  • Trade qualifications in commercial cookery (or equivalent), along with experience in commercial meal preparation. 

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
