What you will do

We are seeking a Controls Lead Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of experience to drive technical excellence and integration design for large-scale smart building projects. This role focuses on leading the development and delivery of integrated solutions across controls, fire, security, and related building technologies. The Controls Lead Engineer will work collaboratively with customers and internal teams to design, coordinate, and implement integration strategies that meet project and customer goals.

How you will do it

  • Integration Workshop Leadership: Facilitate workshops with customers and key stakeholders to define integration requirements using design thinking methodologies.

  • Use Case Development: Partner with solution architects to develop comprehensive horizontal and vertical integration use cases that ensure project objectives are met.

  • System Architecture Design: Define and develop integration architecture patterns and standards to guide implementation approaches across controls and enabling technologies.

  • Integration Strategy: Design integration solutions that leverage OT/IT ecosystems, addressing both operational interactions and data/event feeds.

  • Technical Validation: Apply engineering principles and design patterns to validate integration architectures and recommend emerging technologies where beneficial.

  • Strategic Consulting: Advise account teams and customer decision-makers on integration technologies and solutions that enable business objectives.

  • Bid and Pricing Coordination: Lead bid management activities, including developing pricing packages and scope of work documents for multi-domain projects (controls, fire, security, enabling technologies).

  • Project Planning & Risk Analysis: Oversee engineering input for project plans, risk assessments, and technical documentation to support successful project execution.

What we look for

Required

  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and deliver customized integration solutions.

  • Strong ability to present technical concepts to both technical and business audiences, including executives.

  • Capable of driving innovative solutions and challenging conventional approaches.

  • Proven track record of successful technical design and implementation in integration and controls engineering projects.

  • Experience leading customer consulting engagements, including with senior stakeholders and enterprise architects.

  • Building IoT protocols (BACnet, MQTT, AMQP)

  • APIs and network protocols (LoRaWAN, Bluetooth/BLE, Zigbee, Cellular/Wi-Fi)

  • Experience with on-premises and cloud platforms

  • Awareness of cybersecurity and data security best practices

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred

  • PLC experience is a plus

  • Familiarity with frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman, or FEA (preferred)

  • Industry Experience: Experience supporting projects in healthcare or manufacturing environments highly desirable.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,000 to $138,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, 
knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market 
data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, 
and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The
