The Controller – Investment Accounting & Reporting plays a key role in overseeing fund-level accounting, consolidation, investor reporting, and compliance activities. This position partners closely with investment, portfolio management, and property accounting teams while leading accounting staff and managing external audit and investor relationships.
Below is a snapshot of what this role is all about. While there is more to it, this is the core focus.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual investor reporting
• Lead fund consolidation and financial statement preparation
• Prepare and review NCREIF and Market Value reporting
• Interpret legal agreements for accounting treatment
• Manage audits and SOX compliance
• Ensure compliance with executed agreements and regulations
• Present financial results to management
• Support investor discussions related to fund performance
• Perform financial analysis and ad hoc reporting
• Manage fund-level contributions and distributions
• Oversee equity transactions and quarterly distributions
• Review and approve outgoing wires
• Lead and develop accounting staff
• Oversee daily accounting operations and approvals
• Partner with property accounting and portfolio management teams

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required and advanced degree is a plus
• A CPA (or equivalent) designation is a plus
• 7-10+ years experience in accounting (financial analyst experience a plus)
• Strong personnel management skills and a minimum two years’ experience supervising an accounting department or being in a lead/senior capacity
• Consolidation and investment accounting experience
• YARDI experience
• IFRS experience a plus
• Real estate and public accounting experience a plus
• Investment fund accounting and consolidation expertise
• Technical accounting interpretation of legal and partnership agreements
• Financial statement analysis and investor reporting
• Cash flow management and distribution mechanics
• Audit management and SOX compliance oversight
• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, including Excel-based financial modeling
• YARDI system proficiency

Estimated Rate of Pay:
$160,000.00 - $175,000.00
This position is exempt; the range above reflects annual salary.
The pay range displayed for this position is determined by skills and experience required, location and job complexity*. Potential job offers may vary based on the skills, education, and experience an individual candidate holds. This range reflects base rate only, and does not include allowances, perks, commissions or bonuses applicable to this position (if any). In addition to base salary, Fairfield offers all full time associates the following, upon meeting eligibility requirements:
