LOCATION: Hybrid (preferences to the candidates who live in Dallas)
REPORTS TO: This role reports directly to the CFO in a high-growth pet care innovator, poised to transform how families access trusted pet services nationwide.
PAY: $175,000 –225,000 /salary + 20% - 30% Bonus Opportunity
CORE RESPONSIBILITES:
Month-end close, financial statement preparation, G/L, Reconciliation, Financial Reporting
Research and implement best-in-class accounting software solutions.
Annual budget and budgeting forecasting
In charge of internal auditing such as 401k, workers comp, sales tax, and other regulatory as needed.
Financial compliance statement management - Tax filings for property, business, sales, etc.
Oversee all accounting functions for our 4-Wall Business, encompassing owned-and-operated pet care facilities with responsibilities including revenue recognition, cost of services, inventory management, lease accounting under ASC 842, and multi-location consolidation.
Will drive the financial architecture for our emerging two-sided platform that connects pet parents with service providers, requiring expertise in marketplace accounting such as gross vs. net revenue presentation under ASC 606, payment processor reconciliations, escrow liability management, and multi-sided transaction flows.
Your leadership will ensure GAAP compliance, robust internal controls, and scalable systems to support rapid growth in both segments.
You will partner cross-functionally with operations, product, and engineering teams to design accounting policies for new features, implement ERP enhancements, and manage audit relationships and tax strategies.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership, with deep technical experience in retail/hospitality operations and digital marketplace platforms, preferably holding a CPA and/or Big 4 background.
Microsoft Office apps expertise, especially Excel.
Expertise in general cost accounting principles: AR/AP, Payroll, expense, Forecasting, analyzing key data, ability to create key spreadsheets.
Possesses experience/aptitude to manage teams, leads by example, to be a team player, a sense of urgency and accuracy.
Excellent financial analysis capabilities to formulate data-driven recommendations for profitability and growth.
