Control Testing Manager

The function sits within Manulife’s line 1b of defense – where we align with leadership to set the risk culture, support IT in identifying and mitigating risks at scale, and provide a common view and narrative of key risks to enable business discussions.

This position reports to Asia Head of Information Security & Controls Governance. The role of this position is to be responsible for control testing and other related areas such as pre-audit reviews, conducting risk and controls self-assessments, process documentation reviews, reviewing of findings and corrective action plans, monitoring and oversight of remediation. The goal of this position is to drive the control testing program across regional and market teams, covering core technology processes.

We help business units to ensure uninterrupted BAU on a day-to-day basis by effectively managing their information and operational risks. To achieve this, we need to ensure success in maintaining internal controls and liaison with Manulife’s 2nd line of defense that owns Manulife control policies and standards.   

Position Responsibilities:

  • Working with regional and country L1B to deploy globally aligned risk assessment frameworks in Tech – such as RCSA, control and issue assessment

  • Conducting control testing base on pre-audit assessment and/or with reference from the global aligned technology processes

  • Ensuring that findings are accurate and agreed with stakeholders

  • Working with stakeholders to ensure that corrective action plans are well documented (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time bound

  • Rigorously monitoring and reporting on remediation activities

  • Interface with global stakeholders on control testing methodology and alignment with global programs, such as RCSA methodology and controls improvement initiatives

  • Responsible for the overall quality of control testing from effectiveness of internal, SOX audit program and technology processes. Working closely with team members and Asia Head of Information Security & Controls Governance

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience in conducting IT general controls for audits and technology process

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to quickly review control environments, identify control gaps and establish effective remediation plan

  • Strong stakeholder and people management skills; able to effectively articulate risk posture, technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes through strong verbal and written communication

  • Knowledge of latest technology development and financial services / insurance business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One of CISA, CISSP, CISM is preferred

  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written, proficiency in other Asian language would be a plus
