Contracts Content Data Privacy Specialist (12-month secondment/FTC)

Location: Warsaw

Hybrid Model: 3 days per week from office

AstraZeneca is seeking a privacy professional, with acumen and drive, to join AstraZeneca’s Contracts Counsel & Templates Team (CCT).

The professional in this position will be responsible for contract templates and advising on contracting matters related to privacy, including R&D contracts relating to global clinical trials, product development, and general vendor contracts. The contracts professional will work closely with other members of the CCT, the AstraZeneca Global Privacy Office, and other partners across AstraZeneca’s global business. The role will be based in Warsaw, Poland.

This person will be engaged in advisory related to a landmark project aimed to streamline our clinical data processes to enable high quality, data flows in a sustainable way. 

The position is intended as 12-months secondment. Extension of this period would be dependent on business needs at the end of intended term.

Candidates should have experience in drafting and negotiating either Data Processing Agreements specifically or, ideally, also contracts related to international data transfers of clinical data. They will have an ability to identify risks outside their direct area of responsibility and a thorough understanding of and interest in Privacy, Data Protection, AI, Cybersecurity, as well as general contracting matters.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to join an evolving Contracts team, supporting a global business to:

  • Draft, negotiate, and advise internal stakeholders on data protection and privacy agreements, as well as contractual matters related to privacy to support AstraZeneca's global business
  • Manage, develop and update contract templates, clauses, as well as guidance and playbooks for data protection and other privacy agreements. 
  • Collaborating on the optimization and implementation of contract lifecycle management systems and processes across AstraZeneca’s business.
  • Act as a point of contact with internal stakeholders and support training related to privacy contracts across multiple functions and geographies, at a high level of responsiveness and customer service.
  • Interact closely with the AstraZeneca Global Privacy Office, Global Procurement Services, the Legal team, and AstraZeneca’s third parties to understand business requirements and implement alternative and innovative approaches that are consistent with management priorities, AstraZeneca’s legal and business policies and procedures.  
  • Provide pragmatic and timely counsel to support AstraZeneca business operations.

Essential skills:

  • at least 2-3 years of experience in Privacy, Legal, Contracts, Compliance or Risk Management with a strong privacy or data protection law knowledge, preferably in a multinational company, and/or a reputable, highly rated law firm, or a combination of both.
  • Experience dedicated to drafting and advising on contractual matters.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, editing skills, verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple commitments.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to interface effectively within the organization or with external parties.

Preferred additional skills:

  • Experience with regulating cross-border data transfers in international environment.
  • BAR-training completed / in progress or experience in procurement / contracting.
  • Experience with training internal stakeholders on data protection and privacy contractual requirements. 
  • Hybrid work 3 days from office - Willingness to travel, if needed.
