The Business & Vendor Strategy Management (BVSM) Senior Associate position provides instrumental contract development support to the Transformation and Functional Sourcing Team and the Pfizer Research & Development (PRD) Portfolio Sourcing Team, ensuring compliance with timelines and Pfizer SOPs and processes. The role is a general resource for internal and external stakeholders regarding Pfizer’s approach to PRD contract processing, contract management, and applicable Pfizer policies and procedures. The Business & Transformation Associate supports clinical trial and development timelines through participation in the vendor selection process, assisting Clinical Teams defining work specifications, negotiation of contracts, confirmation and verification of Fair Market Value rates, business terms and the scopes of service with external Consultants and Service Providers (low/medium-complexity Service Agreements) with supervisory oversight.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
With oversight, works independently in a structured environment using established systems and contracting compliance and business requirements to perform assigned tasks.
Liaises frequently with stakeholders to ensure they understand and have realistic expectations of contracting process, systems, compliance & business requirements and contracting cycle times.
Responsible for the independent preparation, commercial terms & conditions review, and finalization of low to medium complexity contractexecution by conducting final review to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as coordinating and obtaining all necessary signatures of assigned non-MSA agreements across BVSM-assigned groups.

Partner with non-BVSM functions to ensure appropriate contract template utilization, inclusive of Legal, Finance, and Source to Pay.
Create and manage contract workspaces and facilitate timely execution through the Contract Management System.
Responsible for generating and finalizing assigned contracts via effective partnering with stakeholders inclusive of determining correct contract template, negotiating key terms with vendors and complying with Corporate and Regulatory Contract and Financial requirements.
Conduct peer contract reviews to ensure proper contract template utilization and overall accuracy.
Negotiates proposed changes to standard contract language within guidelines provided by the Legal Division and other BVSM colleagues; escalates requested changes that fall outside of guidelines to the Legal Division and other stakeholders, as required
Confirms budgets and rates, as required, and escalates significant budget exceptions to the appropriate stakeholder for resolution.
Lead or support internal and external audit requests identifying and providing requested contract and financial documents in an expedited and efficient manner.
Identify, mitigate and communicate terms that fall outside of standard contractual language.
Responsible for Funding Verification of contracts prior to execution.
Maintain internal control standards and implement compliance policies aligned with SOX and other applicable regulations & laws.
Subject Matter Expert forthe contract administration process for assigned BVSMTeam:
Adds new suppliers to Ariba/SAP system, as required
Facilitates contract execution/signature processSupports Ariba (ACW) and ENGAGE maintenance and administration
Uploads PDF copy of fully executed contracts to Pfizer Trial Master File (PTMF).
Facilitates the Subcontractor Approval Process.
Provides contract retrieval and redaction support during Corporate Audits and Regulatory Inspections.
Participates in special projects and/or initiatives to help achieve business objectives. Ensures compliances with BVSMCompliance & Business requirements. Works with team to drive the creation and implementation of best practices.
Actively supports Pfizer’s culture.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
BS/BA from an accredited college or university
Minimum 3+ years’ clinical trial-related Sponsor experience, CRO operational and/or proposal development experience or other relevant clinical trial-related experience and experience negotiating and drafting clinical trial related agreements is required
Excellent oral/written communication skills and proficiency with MS Office applications (Word/Excel) is required.
Knowledge and experience in negotiating and contracting with service providers is desired
Experience with Ariba Contract Workbench (ACW)/Ariba On Demand (AOD), ENGAGE and/or other industry costing or contract management tools is desired.
Operational knowledge of clinical trial study execution activities (e.g. study start-up, maintenance and closeout activities) and clinical outsourcing is desired
Knowledge and experience in negotiating and contracting within Healthcare
