Contract Therapist at Northeastern University Hillel

Boston, Massachusetts, United States Full Time

Contract Therapist (Psychologist or Social Worker)

Northeastern University Hillel

Northeastern University Hillel is seeking a warm, energetic, and student-centered Contract Therapist to support the mental health and well-being of Jewish students on campus. This role offers the opportunity to provide both short-term, in-the-moment support and longer-term counseling for students seeking ongoing care.

Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic clinician who genuinely connects with college-aged students and understands the intensity and complexity of campus life. The ideal candidate brings empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a relatable presence that makes students feel comfortable seeking help. You will serve as a trusted resource—someone students can turn to for immediate support during challenging moments, as well as someone who can provide steady, longer-term therapeutic guidance when needed.

This is a contract position for spring semester, with flexible scheduling, and possibility for extension. Sessions will take place on-site at the Northeastern Hillel building in a comfortable and confidential counseling space.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide short-term and on-going individual counseling to Jewish students seeking emotional, academic, relational, or identity-related support.
  • Offer timely, responsive “in-the-moment” availability for students experiencing acute stress or personal challenges.
  • Create treatment plans and maintain documentation in accordance with professional standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Hillel’s professional staff to ensure holistic, student-centered support (while maintaining clinical confidentiality).
  • Refer students to specialized or intensive services when appropriate, ensuring smooth continuity of care.
  • This is an in-person position, on site at the Hillel House.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology, (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, PhD, PsyD, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with young adults or college students is strongly preferred.
  • A relatable, engaging interpersonal style that resonates with students.
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and an appreciation for the diversity within the Jewish student community.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with Hillel staff.
  • Licensed in the state of Massachusetts.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Contract role, 15-20 hours/week to start; flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends.
  • Projected start date: January 5, 2025
  • $100–$250/hour, depending on experience, licensure, and credentials.
  • Opportunities to expand hours during peak periods or based on student demand.
