The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department has a Contract Compliance Technician job available in our Solid Waste Division. This position will be primarily responsible for checking contractor performance and resident compliance with bulk waste collections for the Solid Waste Division. The ideal person will be detail-oriented, can multitask, and possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with customers, contractors, and citizens (customer service).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of directly related experience in contract compliance, or field environmental experience
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Map reading
  • Map software experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Smart phone operations, including taking and sending photos
  • Microsoft Outlook, Excel
  • Solid Waste Operations
  • Customer Service experience

The Contract Compliance Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring routes after the bulk collections have been reported complete by the collection’s contractor.
  • Notifying residents of non-compliant piles and entering information in the customer service tracking program for contractor follow-up collections and billing.
  • Leaving educational material for residents.
  • Interaction with customers, communicating program rules.
  • Affixing violation notices to bags left out by residents and entering information in the customer service tracking program for follow-up billing.
  • Input of daily audit data into city software system.
  • Investigating and identifying contractor and resident issues related to Solid Waste.

Working Conditions 

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demands

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
