The Continuous Improvement Engineer role will be responsible for leading and drive plant-wide initiatives to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and cost optimization at Kulim, MY site. This position plays a key role in guiding the site through complex transformation efforts by delivering advanced process improvements, embedding a culture of continuous improvement, and enabling sustainable business results. The role combines strong management capabilities with deep Lean and Six Sigma expertise to help optimize operational performance, enhance customer satisfaction, and create long-term value for the Kulim manufacturing site.Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Process Analysis and Improvement: Collaborate with Operations teams to identify, analyze, and implement process improvements. Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to uncover inefficiencies, identify root causes, and develop actionable recommendations. Utilize data mining techniques to uncover cost-saving opportunities and implement robust performance tracking systems.
Lean Deployment: Drive Lean programs at the plant level, including Tiered Daily Management, 5S + Safety, SMED, and other CI initiatives. Plan and conduct Kaizen events; train and mentor teams on Lean methodologies such as PDCA and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) for current and future states.
Project Leadership: Manage multiple operational excellence projects simultaneously, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with site leaders and front-line employees to secure buy-in and drive change adoption.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to inform recommendations, measure project impact, and present insights to diverse audiences.
Training and Capability Building: Deliver internal training programs to promote Lean Sigma principles. Mentor and coach teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and self-sufficiency.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure sustained results and identify further improvement opportunities.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
Proven problem-solving abilities with strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong financial acumen and ability to link improvement initiatives to business impact.
Certification in Lean or Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) is highly desirable.
Proficiency in core industrial engineering techniques; experience with AutoCAD is an added advantage.
