The Content Strategist will drive SailPoint’s content strategy across key audiences, channels, and stages of the customer journey, with a primary focus on integrating advanced AI technologies into our content ecosystem. This role focuses on planning, framework development, content architecture, and editorial direction, while simultaneously leading the charge on AI agent creation and workflow automation to scale our output.
The ideal candidate understands how to connect audience insights, messaging, and business objectives into unified content plans and can leverage AI tools to execute those plans more efficiently. You will guide writers and cross-functional partners to execute on plans that blend human creativity with AI-driven precision.
The content strategist partners closely with product marketing, field marketing, campaigns, digital, SEO, and creative teams to define what content is needed, why, and how it performs. This role centers on orchestrating and optimizing content creation—building the AI-assisted engines that power our storytelling rather than producing the bulk of it directly.
Lead AI-first content strategy: Develop and maintain a content strategy and editorial roadmap aligned to corporate messaging, marketing strategy, and product value propositions, prioritizing AI integration to accelerate production and personalization.
AI agent development & implementation: Spearhead the creation, training, and refinement of AI agents and custom GPTs to automate content drafting, repurposing, and localization workflows, working in conjunction with the marketing ops team.
Content gap & opportunity analysis: Conduct analysis to define what content is required across personas, verticals, and journey stages (TOFU, MOFU, BOFU), using AI tools to identify competitive white space and emerging topics.
Strategic frameworks: Partner with product marketing and campaigns to translate positioning and solution messaging into scalable content frameworks that can be effectively utilized by both human writers and AI agents.
Orchestration & optimization: Oversee the creation and optimization of content across formats (web, ebooks, solution briefs, videos, infographics, email, etc.), ensuring AI tools are used ethically and effectively to maintain quality at scale.
Governance & taxonomy: Manage and evolve the content inventory, taxonomy, tagging, and governance to ensure accuracy, consistency, and findability, ensuring our data structure supports future AI ingestion and retrieval.
Data-driven planning: Collaborate with digital teams to inform content planning using search insights and performance trends, ensuring content is discoverable, structured for AEO and SEO, and provides value to the reader, leveraging AI for predictive analytics on content performance.
SME extraction & narrative building: Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to extract insights and develop narratives that map to buyer needs, creating prompt libraries that allow us to scale these insights across multiple assets.
Editorial standards & brand voice: Establish editorial standards and voice guidelines, ensuring both human and AI-generated content aligns perfectly with brand tone and messaging.
Performance tracking: Track content performance, extract insights, and recommend continuous improvements based on engagement and pipeline contribution.
Guidance & briefing: Guide and support content creators (internal, external, and automated) by providing review direction and feedback.
Experience: 8+ years in content strategy, content marketing, editorial planning, or related role within B2B technology.
AI proficiency: Demonstrated experience with generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Jasper, Claude, Gemini, etc.) and a strong understanding of prompt engineering. Experience building or configuring AI agents/bots for content workflows is a critical requirement.
Technical proficiency: Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS), AEO/SEO tools, and web analytics
Industry knowledge: Experience with enterprise SaaS, security, or identity platforms strongly preferred.
Strategic vision: Strong strategic thinking with the ability to define priorities and articulate a content vision that embraces technological innovation.
Cross-functional collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally across sales, product marketing, campaigns, and creative teams to evangelize AI adoption.
Translation skills: Ability to translate complex or technical concepts into clear, compelling messaging for multiple audiences.
Editorial judgment: Excellent editorial judgment, prioritization, and content QA skills, specifically the ability to edit and humanize AI-generated drafts.
Analytical mindset: Comfortable analyzing performance data to influence strategy and future content investments.
Communication: Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, able to lead editorial discussions and influence stakeholders on the value of AI integration.
Project Management: Managing deadlines, content assets, and cross-functional workflows.
