Content Designer

About the role:

Our next content designer can of course create clear, intentional and actionable UI text (that’s a given), and we really want someone who thinks like a designer. 

This is a mid-level role: you have solid UX writing and/or content design experience, and you pride yourself on always making intentional content choices. You consistently consider page hierarchy, user goals, IA, research findings, experience flow, business needs, and more.

What you'll do:

Jam out with your cross-functional colleagues

• Iterate regularly with PM, product designers, engineers, and researchers to improve the content experience in our product
• Help your collaborators define design problems and wrangle complexities with a content lens 
• Embrace relationships with other content-focused disciplines like Marketing and Customer Education

Inspire content design superfans across the company

• Showcase content design’s impact with regular collaborators as well as senior stakeholders (show up and show off!)
• Help scale the 8am content design discipline by contributing to our style guide and design system
• Share your toolbox: lead content design exercises to inspire design iterations and align teams

Focus on accountant, case management, and AI experiences

• Lead and shape the content design strategy for accountant and fintech users
• Support content design work for practice management experiences
• Potentially assist in AI and agentic workflows as emerging technologies evolve at 8am

About you:

• 2-4 years in content design, UX writing, or content strategy, ideally with experience in SaaS or complex digital products
• A portfolio showcasing user-centered content design work
• Experience working closely with product designers, engineers, and researchers to shape the user experience
• Strong writing skills: clear, concise, and adaptable to different tones and contexts
• Strong design thinking skills 
• Comfortable balancing quick, tactical deliverables in addition to contributions to long-term content strategies
  
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve workflows, enhance decision-making, or drive innovation.

Additional Information
The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of the US / Austin / California may differ. 8am is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education.
