What you’ll be doing


The Consultant, Vendor Governance is responsible for supporting the Director, Business Effectiveness in establishing and maintaining robust vendor governance practices. This role ensures the consistent application of CIBC’s vendor governance framework, oversees post-contract execution activities, and drives continuous improvement in vendor oversight. The Consultant acts as a key integrator, collaborating with business leaders to align vendor governance activities with strategic objectives, ensuring compliance, risk management, and value delivery across the vendor lifecycle.

To successfully perform the work, you’ll be on-site full-time.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. 

How you’ll succeed

  • Vendor Governance Framework & Oversight - Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive vendor governance framework, including standardized processes, controls, and documentation. Create and manage post-execution vendor governance task lists, run books, and governance calendars to ensure ongoing oversight and timely completion of governance activities. Ensure all governance activities align with CIBC policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Artifact Collection & Records Management - Collect, validate, and maintain key vendor artifacts, such as SOC2 reports, insurance certificates, SLA documentation, and other compliance records. Support records retention initiatives and ensure proper documentation for audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Vendor Meetings & Performance Management - Organize and facilitate regular vendor governance meetings (weekly/monthly) with set agendas focused on performance, compliance, risk, and continuous improvement. Track, follow up, and report on action items, issues, and outcomes from governance meetings. Coordinate and support control testing, internal/external audits, and other governance assurance activities (e.g., SOX, OSFI, litigation). Monitor vendor adherence to contractual obligations, SLAs, and regulatory requirements, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Issue Management & Continuous Improvement - Proactively identify, evaluate, and address vendor-related issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Report governance findings, risks, and remediation activities to senior management, recommending solutions and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on vendor governance requirements, processes, and best practices. Consult and coordinate with business units, legal, risk, and compliance teams to ensure effective governance integration. Support other business management activities related to vendor governance as required, contributing to strategic initiatives and process enhancements.

Who you are

Ideally, you have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), a collaborative mindset, and are well-versed in both Excel and PowerPoint.
