What Your Impact Is

As a Consultant, Science/Engineering, you’ll support and lead components of spill prevention planning, site investigation, and remediation projects while working closely with program managers, partners, and technical experts across North America. You’ll apply your experience in state and federal regulations to manage compliance needs, oversee field programs, mentor junior staff, and ensure high‑quality project execution. Your contributions will be vital to delivering innovative, practical solutions for ERM’s clients in the Oil & Gas sector and other industries.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline. Or equivalent experience.

  • 2–3 years of progressively responsible experience supporting spill prevention or contaminated site projects under local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Environmental fieldwork experience and 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to established Health & Safety protocols.

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Experience working in Arctic or remote environments.

  • Familiarity with state/federal Spill Prevention regulations, the Alaska Contaminated Sites Program, and RCRA corrective action regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development, maintenance, and renewal of Oil Discharge Prevention and Contingency Plans (ODPCP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, including site inspections.

  • Collaborate with clients and Professional Engineers to implement compliance strategies and develop innovative spill prevention solutions.

  • Participate in spill drill planning, execution of field and desktop drills, and spill response support across diverse facilities in Alaska.

  • Contribute to investigation and remediation projects involving soil, groundwater, sediments, and free‑phase product, including complex Oil & Gas regulatory contexts.

  • Plan and oversee field activities such as sampling, drilling, well installation, vapor intrusion assessments, pilot tests, and remedial system oversight.

  • Support design and implementation of remedial technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater, including emerging and sustainable treatment approaches.

  • Conduct due diligence assessments (ASTM Phase I and Phase II) and broad-based compliance evaluations.

  • Manage tasks and deliverables within defined scope, schedule, and budget expectations while ensuring quality standards.

  • Delegate project tasks effectively and mentor junior team members.

  • Assist in preparing technical proposals.

  • Build strong, collaborative working relationships with ERM colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
