Consultant/ Project Manager COO Finance

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Project Manager/ consultant for the Accelerated Close Programme for the Finance Organisation.

You will be in the lead to manage a cross-border programme and collaborate with the global Finance and Risk organization and various key stakeholders to support the Finance organisation in realizing its strategic ambitions and operating model effectiveness.  

You will be located in Amsterdam and work with our teams in Manila and Amsterdam.

Work Environment

COO Finance (COOF) is an independent unit reporting to ING’s COO, with a permanent seat in the Management team of CFO. It is accountable for executing the CFO and COO strategy to evolve towards one global digital bank. The COOF mission is to enable excellence in Finance with real time business insights, derived from state of the art technologies, optimal use of data and highly effective operations.

You will be part of the newly established integrated CoE Operational Effectiveness & Control, which supports COOF in driving and realizing its strategic ambitions and operating model effectiveness, enabling services that are simple, scalable, digital (and AI enabled), controlled & compliant, and consistent in performance.

The team brings specialized knowledge and expertise to make a tangible impact, works collaboratively and proactively across the COOF organization to provide central steering, hands-on support, guidance, advice, and challenge where needed, and elevates standardization and shared practices to enable COOF ambitions.

The Accelerated Close program was launched to optimize and streamline monthly and quarterly financial reporting, with the ambition to enable faster reporting and decision making. The program is organized into workstreams covering Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Risk, directly supported by domains such as COO Finance, COO Risk, Group Finance, Retail Banking and Wholesale Banking.

As the project manager, you are responsible for coordinating overall program progress and period progress reporting to (senior) management. Additionally, you support the workstream leads in organizing their workstreams effectively, solution identification and decision making.  

Your Role & Key Responsibilities

As Project Manager you take responsibility for

  • Core project management: roadmap, planning, reporting, dashboard

    • Manage the planning and roadmap and ensure that the project is executed in accordance with this

    • Maintain dashboards and take the lead in alignment meetings regarding initiation and execution of the roadmap

    • Help to resolve and mitigate risks, issues and impediments

    • Prepare for decks/content for the various meeting (MT, Project, Governance)

    • Facilitate steering and decision making

  • Operating Model and solution design:

    • Support on the streamlining of the MA operating model

    • Actively engaging and aligning strategies, demand and priorities with (senior) stakeholders in COOF and relevant stakeholders in Finance and Risk.

    • Develop medium- or long-term plans that enable the organization to achieve its business goals in your area of expertise. Involves coordinating across multiple teams.

  • Stakeholder management & communication:

    • Manage the expectations of stakeholders regarding the project and  able to explain the results thereof

    • You help the team to collect and share best practices

    • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in an international setting

    • You are proficient in stakeholder management, being aware of cross-cultural sensitivities

    • Support MT COOF and act as a business partner in managing stakeholder expectations and communication.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Controlling, Audit or related field.

  • 5+ years in consulting and/ or project management, within Banking.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Finance processes across Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Risk that influence the monthly financial close.

  • Proven experience in working with cross-border teams and managing complex change and transformation programs.

  • Experience in developing and optimizing operational processes, tools, and portals to enhance automation and standardization.

  • Strong stakeholder management in complex, multi-country environments
