We are seeking a talented individual to join the Advisory – Property Risk Consulting division at Marsh. This role will be based in Sandton, Johannesburg, hybrid and has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Responsible for assessing, advising and managing property risk exposures for clients.
The role involves conducting details risk assessments, developing risk mitigation strategies and providing expert advice to clients to optimize their property risk management practices.
The position requires a strong understanding of property insurance, risk engineering and industry standards / codes of practise.
We will count on you to:
Conduct comprehensive property risk assessments for a diverse portfolio of clients.
Identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities related to property assets.
Develop and recommend risk mitigation and loss prevention strategies.
Prepare detailed reports and present findings to clients and internal teams or assets insurers.
Collaborate with underwriters, brokers and clients to tailor risk solutions.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations and emerging risks affecting property assets.
Lead and mentor junior risk consultants and team members.
Support business development through client engagement and proposal development.
Assist in the development of risk management tools, templates and best practises.
What you need to have:
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Engineering or related field; advanced certifications (e.g. IRMSA, IFE, Saiosh) preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in property risk assessment, engineering or related roles.
Strong knowledge of property insurance policies, risk engineering and loss prevention.
Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with risk management software and MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of local building codes, fire safety standards and legislation such as the National Building Regulations and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Experience working with large commercial or industrial property portfolios.
Technical expertise in property risk and engineering principles.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking.
