What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Director, the Business Risk Advisory (BRA) Consultant will ensure that an effective control environment is in place to support the CIBC Wood Gundy Branch network. The BRA Consultant will be responsible for ensuring that CIBCWG is adhering to industry regulations, corporate policies, and acceptable standards of business ethics and conduct. The BRA Consultant will act as a key contact for Wood Gundy advisors, Operations teams and business partners on escalated, systemic or complex Business Risk Advisory issues.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $75,870 to $104,320.
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How you’ll succeed
Key Responsibilities & Focus - Major areas of activity include governance, monitoring compliance with applicable laws, legislation, regulations & CIBC internal policies/standards/guidelines. Respond to new and escalated Business Risk Advisory queries in an accurate and timely manner. Identify and work with management to implement recommendations to address root cause. Day to Day activities include AML exceptions, WG Privacy, Private Placements, Estate issues, Trust Accounts, Legal enquiries, POAs, Security Risk Rating, Fraud and WG Conflicts of Interest and other Wood Gundy exceptions.
Point of contact - Act as a key contact for Wood Gundy advisors, Operations teams and business partners on escalated, systemic or complex Business Risk Advisory issues. Obtain assistance from Tax, Legal, Compliance and Director as required to address root cause. Perform / coordinate the various centralized supervision functions such as the supervision of OTCs and Social Media Direct Messages. Follow up on any questionable transactions. Identify, analyze and implement courses of action to ensure all regulatory requirements and timelines are met.
Collaboration - Develop and maintain relationships with internal auditors, Wood Gundy Compliance, Branch Managers and Regional / Managing Directors in order to support, coach, mentor for risk matters. Partnering with Director, proactively lead and represent the Business Risk Advisory Department on key business reviews, projects and audits. Coordinate priorities as required to ensure BRAE action items are completed in an accurate, timely, diligent and thorough manner.
Coach - Educate, support, coach and mentor WG branches and business partners on day to day technical issues. Identify and resolve Business Risk Advisory issues, helping colleagues adhere to CIBC policies, standards, guidelines and controls
Documentation & Performance Analysis - Retrieve, consolidate and analyze Business Risk Advisory Metrics. Assist with the allocation and reallocation of workload to meet changing priorities and to address opportunities. Coordinate the documentation and analysis of Business Risk Advisory policies, procedures, intranet site and communications.

Who you are
You demonstrate good Knowledge of the financial services industry gained through previous experience. You show solid understanding of the CIBC Wood Gundy business, along with the regulatory and compliance environment surrounding the branch network. You show intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required, more advanced knowledge of Excel, Access and PowerPoint is beneficial.
You’re a certified professional. You have successfully completed: Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook; completion of other industry courses would be beneficial.
You are a problem solver. Well-developed problem-solving skills necessary to develop unique or creative approaches and solutions to resolve complex issues / problems.
You have the ability to manage several small to medium sized projects concurrently involving complex changes to technical or business environment. You work well under pressure, with tight deadlines, and sometimes competing objectives.
You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You connect with others through respect and authenticity.
