What you’ll be doing

You’ll join our Business Controls team to support and contribute to the overall mandate of the Personal & Business Banking team reporting into the Director, Personal Business Banking, Chief Administration Office under Business Enablement & Governance. As a Consultant, Business Controls, you will support the overall mandate of the Business Controls group in the management of material, systemic, and emerging risks by developing and implementing integrated control improvement solutions across all products and distribution channels within Retail Banking and Digital Platforms and Client Engagement line of businesses. You’ll support to develop and implement integrated control improvement solutions across all products and distribution channels. You will assist to manage key controls to mitigate operational exposures and potential losses. You’ll act as the key relationship manager for the business.

How you’ll succeed

  • Risk Assessment - Identify risk and control issues and participate in risk assessment activities and discussions. Perform detailed risk assessments and root cause analyses on control gaps and operational losses. Compile, synthesize and summarize results of risk assessments. Map business control processes; identify potential failure modes and control gaps. You will provide support for Incident Reporting investigations within the Line of Business (LOB) as well as the Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA) process, ensuring that all material risks are identified and that activities remain compliant with the CIBC CIRA policy and procedures. Additionally, you will assist with the management of deficiencies and risk items for the LOB by supporting eGRC-related tasks and facilitating the implementation of remediation plans for targeted control gaps and special projects.

  • Process Improvement - Proactively identify and implement opportunities to streamline and enhance business processes, driving greater efficiency and effectiveness. Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and delivery of measurable results.

  • Guidelines & Procedures - Conduct regular reviews and updates of process documentation to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness.

  • Records & SharePoint Governance - Maintain records inventories, complete annual validations, and update procedures/job aids as required. Act as the primary contact for records management, support SRO-delegated activities, and oversee SharePoint administration by managing access, security, and content to enable effective records management and team collaboration. Additionally, work and assist with artifact gathering for various audits and examinations as applicable.

  • Project Management - Participate in business, governance and regulatory projects to identify risk and control issues. Consult on new initiatives from a risk and controls perspective. Develop high level requirements for control processes and gaps within projects and new initiatives. Analyze and/or develop changes to control processes or procedures. Support all activities for the execution of the Control Framework requirements. Support development of remediation action plans.

  • Relationship Building & Management - Collaborate with EDRMO, GORM, and Business Controls, managing relationships across peer and Director levels, as well as with project and initiative managers within assigned Line of Business (LOB) portfolios and functional groups.

 

Who you are

You understand and have the ability to communicate the Control Framework requirements (Risk & Controls Self-Assessments, Scenarios, Deficiency Management, Incident Reporting, Regulatory Compliance Incidents, Key Risk Indicators) to LOB partners to ensure awareness, understanding of accountabilities. You have extensive knowledge of risk management principles, practices, policies and procedures. Experience in Personal Banking Products line of business in the banking sector is an asset.
