Software Engineering Solutions Team within Nationwide Financial Technology is seeking a Consultant, Agile Leader.  This role will be aligned with the IDS BSA and will specifically support a Team that focuses on Build and Run including Vulnerabilities, Audit/Compliance, and other related areas.

We are looking for someone that is excited and highly motivated and has a proven track record of delivering business outcomes. The ideal candidates should be grounded in:

  • Agile methodologies

  • Lean and DevSecOps principles

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong leadership, organization, facilitation, and presentation skills.

Having prior experience as an Agile Leader is required for this position. Additionally, having a diverse skill set in areas such as:

  • Test Automation, Test Strategy, and Technical Analysis is a plus

  • Exposure to ETL tools like Informatica or Talend will also be helpful

It is our intention to fill this role in Columbus, Ohio. The team comes into the office for collaboration twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays. However, on occasion, applications from internal candidates working remotely who bring critical industry skills and relevant experience may be considered.

As an Agile Leader, you'll facilitate a robust, self-organized agile technology team responsible for building and/or enhancing software with high quality. You’ll collaborate with partners to deliver objectives, using appropriate software delivery practices (e.g., scrum, iterative, Lean) to continuously improve software delivery efficiency, and quality. You will play a key role in guiding delivery from story card creation to implementation and participate in user communities to learn and implement optimal practices.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates team cadence (e.g., retrospective, daily standups and show-and-tell meetings) to encourage collaboration, communication and feedback within the team; promotes a learning culture and challenges the team to be innovative.

  • Removes impediments to the team’s progress; communicates obstacles requiring outside resolution to the partners.

  • Identifies risks and issues that might have an impact on delivery and facilitates a mitigation strategy for risks.

  • Collaborates with partners to prioritize the backlog to maximize value and create clarity on the team activities.

  • Collaborates with the agile technology team to provide guidance to the team in the areas of analysis, design, development and testing, and ensures that standard methodologies are used.

  • Guides and enables automation, software engineering practices, such as DevSecOps, to improve quality, productivity, efficiency and consistency of processes and product

  • Monitors team metrics, such as time to market (speed), quality and productivity and progress using historical data, observations and experiences to achieve team goals and commitments; leads the team to deliver high-quality solutions. 

  • Improves team delivery capabilities continuously by adopting Nationwide Agile Practices, collaborating and coaching.

  • Provides a technical voice on the team to challenge decisions such as design approach, estimates, etc.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. 

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Technology Manager/Director. 

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is preferred. 

Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Project management experience is preferred. 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to champion agile delivery over fixed practices, flexibility over rigidity, coaching, empowerment and influence over dictation and automation over manual processes. Confirmed knowledge in software development. Proven software engineering expertise using Lean, agile and DevSecOps principles. Thorough understanding of agile technology frameworks and software engineering practices. Consistent record of optimally leading, empowering and building engaged teams. Experience developing and maintaining strong business partnerships. Effective communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and decision making skills. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus. 

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

The national salary range for Consultant, Agile Leader : $118,000.00-$222,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Agile Leader : $118,000.00 - $178,000.00
