Reporting to the Manager, Construction (Midstream), the Construction Planner plays a pivotal role in delivering a dynamic annual capital program valued at up to $200M across a diverse midstream project portfolio. This role leads the strategic development and integration of construction execution plans, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements. This position shapes construction strategy, drives operational excellence, and ensures projects are completed on time and on budget.

Minimum Requirements:
10+ years of experience in construction, maintenance planning, or construction management within heavy industrial environments
Degree in Engineering, Diploma in Engineering Technology, or Trade Certification with contractor management experience
Experience supporting large-scale turnaround or capital projects in oil and gas, petrochemical, utilities, or related industries
Proficiency with Primavera (P6), Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office
Strong knowledge of construction planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and contractor performance management
Understanding of applicable jurisdictional codes and standards (e.g., Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA), Technical Safety British Columbia (TSBC), Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ), Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK), and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA))

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Construction Execution Plans and Construction Management Plans across the Midstream capital portfolio
Integrate construction planning with project controls, procurement, and contractor execution strategies
Track and report construction progress through project completion and turnover to Operations
Use key performance indicators to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement
Support contractor oversight, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure safe, efficient project delivery
Location and other Key details:
This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Occasional overnight travel (~2-3 days/quarter) to engage with field construction personnel and support CEP and CMP deliverables
