The Construction Management Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and improvement projects for the Flood Control District. The ideal candidate will bring a strong knowledge of construction methods, with key responsibilities that include project scheduling, reviewing construction documents, preparing reports, coordinating field activities, and a commitment to ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with District standards.

We Require
Two years of experience as an inspector or two years of experience in an engineering or construction field, including surveying, drainage inspecting, hydrology, and plan review
High school diploma or GED
Post-secondary education in a related field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
We Also Value
A valid certificate from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or from the International Code Council (ICC) is preferred
Job Contributions
Plan, coordinate, and inspect flood control projects, working with the Construction Manager and the contractor to ensure projects are constructed according to standards, plans, budget, and specifications
Determine and document work completed, and materials used; prepare monthly pay estimates for construction contracts
Inspect and monitor projects under contract; resolve discrepancies between field conditions and design plans and specifications; recommend methods of resolving complex problems
Attend pre-construction and regular meetings with clients, contractors, and other concerned parties to review project progress and to facilitate the resolution of construction difficulties. Respond to questions from citizens and agencies on FCD projects and plans
Monitor Storm Water Prevention Protection Plan standards to assure National Pollution Elimination System stormwater requirements are met
Assure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements. Performs technical reviews of shop drawings and other submittals

Working Conditions
This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period
Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
Requires some work at field locations with exposure to dust, construction and operational noise, strong odors, and uneven terrain. Field work may occur in all weather conditions, including extreme heat. The maximum weight required to lift, push, pull, or carry is 25 pounds. Some inspections may require working at multiple stories above grade. Traveling from inspection to inspection in rural areas can require sitting for long periods of time
Protective equipment required
Personal protective equipment will be required while on construction sites
