About the Business Function:
From molecule to market, Global Manufacturing plays an important role in every step along a product’s lifecycle. Most of our customers never see the scientific and technical resources behind our medicines. But customers experience, every day, the performance of our high-quality products and global supply network.
Global Manufacturing comprises a core group of functions that contribute to the production and supply of high-quality products: Engineering; Manufacturing Information & Control Systems; Quality & Labs, Technology Services/Manufacturing Science; Global Health, Safety and Environment; and Global Supply Chain.
The Configuration Sr. Associate – Tulip will support the development, configuration, and localization of global manufacturing applications built on the Tulip platform. This entry-level role sits within a global program focused on eliminating paper-based manufacturing processes. A successful candidate will contribute across the full delivery lifecycle — from requirements and process mapping through configuration, validation, site deployment, and ongoing support — and will bring a collaborative spirit, a continuous improvement mindset, and the drive to deliver higher-quality results faster.
What you will be doing:
Global App Development & Configuration
Lead product strategy and application roadmap development in accordance with business value and program priorities.
Design and configure Tulip global applications/app templates and ensure Lilly's global configuration standards for Tulip and regulatory-compliant development practices are followed through peer code review.
Drive localization of global app templates at manufacturing sites, working closely with site teams and global process owners to adapt applications to local needs while maintaining global alignment.
Design and document application workflows, UI components, triggers, connectors, and integrations.
Follow version-control and change management practices for all configuration artifacts.
Identify gaps/risks and appropriate mitigation to ensure timely delivery of releases.
Process Alignment & Requirements
Participate in requirement discovery sessions with sites, process owners, and business stakeholders to clarify needs and translate them into configuration requirements.
Create and maintain process flow maps and app design documentation.
Conduct application demos for site teams and leadership as part of deployment and change management activities.
Quality, Validation & Compliance
Perform all development activities in accordance with GxP and data integrity principles.
Assist in validation process including documentation of configuration specifications and test scripts, including efforts to automate creation of these artifacts.
Lead in cahnge control, release management, and deployment activities to maintain validated application state.
Support & Platform Operations
Resolve L2/L3 support tickets related to Tulip applications; escalate appropriately and contribute to knowledge base documentation as needed.
Participate in regression testing, platform upgrades, and patch activities as needed.
Identify recurring issues and propose process or configuration improvements.
Innovation & Platform Evolution
Lead developer experience initiatives, including AI-assisted development and automation tooling.
Lead efforts to identify and build integrations, data products, and AI/automation use cases that advance the program's paperless manufacturing goals.
Proactively challenge current approaches to find better, faster, and higher-quality ways of working.
Collaboration & Growth
Work as an active and contributing member of a truly global team — collaboration and team contribution are core expectations, not optional.
Collaborate with other team members, including fellow Configurators, Business Process Architects, and business stakeholders to deliver outcomes under guidance.
Demonstrate a growth mindset — pursue training, platform certifications, and best-practice adoption within the Tulip ecosystem.
How you will succeed:
Learn and consistently apply Lilly's Tulip configuration standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
Deliver accurate, well-documented configuration work with strong attention to detail.
Contribute reliably to support operations and site localization activities.
Build technical capability in integrations, automation, and AI tooling through mentorship and hands-on practice.
Show up as a team player — proactive, communicative, and invested in shared outcomes.
What you should bring:
Experience and/or knowledge of manufacturing shop floor execution – processes, workflows, common challenges.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills — comfortable working with both technical teams and shop floor business partners.
Self-organized and self-driven, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Collaborative by nature, with a genuine interest in contributing to team success.
Agile mindset with a bias toward continuous improvement and automation.
Commitment to documentation quality and compliance discipline.
Curiosity and comfort working at the intersection of technology, manufacturing operations, and regulated environments.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
6+ years of experience with MES, manufacturing IT, or related systems.
Foundational understanding of manufacturing workflows and/or quality/compliance principles in pharma, biotech, or life sciences.
Interest in low-code/no-code application development on platforms such as Tulip or similar.
Basic familiarity with APIs, data exchange concepts, or reporting tools.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Experience with MES platforms: Tulip is strongly preferred, exposure to other MES platforms (e.g., Syncade, PAS-X, PharmaSuite) is a plus.
Pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing industry experience is a significant advantage.
Familiarity with GxP, CSV/CSA frameworks, and validation documentation practices.
Basic SQL skills; willingness to learn scripting or query-based data access.
Understanding of REST APIs and integration concepts at an introductory level.
Experience with productivity and ticketing tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps).
Exposure to test automation tools in validated environments.
Experience with process mapping or diagramming tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Visio).
Interest in AI, agentic tools, and automation as applied to manufacturing and developer workflows.
Tulip training or community certifications (nice to have).
