Job Description
 

Overview

The Configuration Specialist configures, supports, maintains, and assists in the upgrading of hardware, networks, operating systems, and database software for the City and its departments. Assists and supports public safety dispatch and administration and ensures all equipment is functional and fully operational.

Essential Functions

1 Configures and transforms data and information into usable formats for consumption by internal and external users; ensures the effective retrieval of information from centralized information sources and completes service requests for data and information.

2 Reviews and monitors user access rights including annual periodic changes for particular systems; troubleshoots and resolves system problems and errors to devise preventative solutions to meet user needs; provides specialized expertise on CAD systems and software configuration.

3 Maintains the overall functionality and integrity of business and technical data by evaluating practices and configurations; works closely with other personnel to maintain CAD and related systems and to perform all other technical administration and services.

4 Analyzes and reconciles data, records, service requests, and transactions, to ensure accuracy of data and to effectively maintain data integrity; documents and tracks system configurations and processes data for reference; assists with various special projects and related project management.

5 Assists, supports, and participates in data archiving and testing of configuration and methods of storage; provides insight and knowledge for updates to policies or related procedures.

6 Implements and adheres to policies and procedures to improve efficiency and works with departments to facilitate effective workflow and resolve technical configuration problems.

7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of data security concepts and experience with user controls and segregation of duties.

2 Knowledge of data quality concepts and methods for improvement.

3 Knowledge of Customer Service Requests systems, dispatch systems, or Customer Relationship Management systems.

4 Knowledge of system analysis and design, database development and administration, database application development, and documentation techniques.

5 Ability to research, analyze data and compile reports.

6 Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and strong attention to detail.

7 Ability of understand and communicate business needs for changes or enhancements to system and manage those changes.

8 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing

9 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher), in an engineering, math, computer science, business or information technology related field.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Three (3) year experience in Object-Oriented Programming and/or relational database (JAVA, MS SQL, SQL Server, Oracle PC SQL, Python, UML Framework solutions and C+ or C++ within Applications), which must have included familiarity with project management utilizing either Waterfall or Agile Methodologies.

EQUIVALENCIES: 

  • High school diploma or GED plus seven (7) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • An associate degree in any field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specified field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A master's degree or higher in a stated field plus three (3) year of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements. ​

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • No felony or class A misdemeanor convictions

  • No class B misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years

  • No family violence convictions

  • Cannot currently be on any active deferred adjudication for any felony, class A misdemeanor or class B misdemeanor charge

  • May be subject to handle service calls during off-duty hours/ weekends on a rotational basis including reset of user password



Salary Range

 

$73,590.40 - $91,977.60


 

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
