Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Configuration Management (CDM) Engineer – Level 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Boulder, CO.

What you’ll get to do?

As a CDM professional you will be building and maintaining system processes for a new electro-mechanical program. We are seeking individuals who are ready to create mission-critical products, approach each day with optimism, and have a relentless drive to solve complex problems. Attention to detail and process coordination is imperative for this role, because at Northrop Grumman, many of the problems we work on are impossible… until they’re not.

Essential Functions:

  • Assign and control program hardware / software data identification control numbers per program & Functional Home Room (FHR) mandates
  • Establish agendas, publish minutes & track meeting actions
  • Process change packages through lifecycle include disposition & documentation / hardware implementation
  • Perform program data release functions via Product Lifecycle Mgmt. tools
  • Development & maintain various CDM reports for program support. Example, Configured Item Identification List, Engineering Change Request status, CDM performance metrics
  •  Support internal program CDM audits against program SOW & Functional Command Media mandates
  • Provide aid to Functional Configuration Audits & perform Physical Configuration Audit
  • Document Management for deliverable CDRLs and non-CDRL documents
  • Support program Configuration Management and Data Management (CM/DM) requirements.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and administering program data management systems, data bases, and confirmation management tools to support program CM and DM requirements.
  • Assist in building and managing program CM/DM systems and tools, libraries, workflows, and processes.
  • Provide inputs into program level metrics to benchmark effectiveness of CM and DM performance.
  • Lead the CM and DM efforts and will work closely with the program, customer representatives, functional organizations, and suppliers to ensure that program CM and DM processes are accurately implemented.
  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of project documentation, such as engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications, to ensure customer contract requirements are met.
  • Create and implement CM and DM processes that are accomplished within the bounds of the contract.
  • Utilize integrated tools for accomplishing Configuration and Data Management Team mission needs.
  • Facilitate Engineering Review Board and Configuration Control Board.  This includes tracking engineering changes through the lifecycle, supporting the boards as a voting member, and creating and distributing agendas and meeting notes, along with announcements to baseline updates
  • Prepares work Products to support CM audits

This requisition may be filled as either a level 3 or a level 4.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors; 3 Years with Masters; 0 years with a PhD; or 9 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.​
  • Active Secret required at time of application
  • Experience leading deliverables, documentation, and data libraries
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience managing government customer deliveries and submissions
  • Familiar in managing CM/DM file repositories
  • Familiar in establishing and following CM/DM processes throughout project life cycles to maintain consistent configuration control, developing, operating, and maintaining CM baselines
  • Experience facilitating CCBs
  • Proven communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to interface well with program management/customers
  • Domain knowledge of Configuration Mgmt. industry standard (EIA-649 and supporting documents)
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Program Data Management (PDM) systems and methods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DevSecOps Experience
  • Git and related DevOps tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, or scripting) to design automated workflows that ensure compliance with configuration and data management (CDM) policies, conduct self-audits, or streamline component releases.
  • Build, implement, and monitor end-to-end automation pipelines for Configuration Identification, CCB processing, and baseline validation using tools like GitLab CI/CD or Atlassian toolsets.
  • Manage and revise hardware drawings: Oversee and control baselines for hardware configurations by managing updates to detailed engineering drawings and verifying revisions are compliant with program requirements and MIL/ASME standards.
  • SharePoint management experience
  • Agile development experience
  • Familiarity with MBSE environments
  • Atlassian experience
  • Teamcenter Unified Architecture tool experience
  • Experience with AS 9100
  • Certifications: Configuration Management Professional and Implementation (CMPIC), Global Configuration Management (CM2), National Defense Industrial Association CM Training (NDIA)

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
