Role Overview

Howden is seeking a skilled Configuration & Documents Technician to join our Change Team, playing a key role in user support, system configuration, and project-driven enhancements within the Acturis platform.

Job Scope

  • Handle support requests, oversee both small-scale and project-driven changes, upskill users and help ensure efficient use of the Acturis system.
  • Ensure high-quality system configuration and document management to support business operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement best practices and improve Acturis system functionality.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of broking systems, particularly Acturis.
  • Familiarity with Howden’s operational landscape and the broader insurance sector.
  • Expertise in Acturis configuration, including document templates and system integration projects.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of insurance industry challenges and system-driven solutions.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to translate technical requirements.
  • Confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines while adhering to SLA requirements.

Experience & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of customer facing experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting the Acturis broking application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop the Acturis document suite by creating and modifying templates to align with business needs.
  • Perform complex configuration of the Acturis platform to support business requirements.
  • Collaborate with the wider applications team to support ongoing and planned initiatives.
  • Ensure users are kept informed throughout the duration of their queries.
  • Escalate complex issues to the line manager where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate system configuration records, ensuring changes are well-documented.
  • Evaluate Acturis upgrades, assess their impact, and plan activation strategies with team managers.
  • Develop user-friendly guides for Acturis upgrades and deliver training to Super Users as required.
  • Create and execute test scripts to support UAT testing for new features or document enhancements.
  • Gather user feedback and development suggestions, providing structured input to Acturis for system improvements.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with Super Users to improve system efficiency.
  • Assist with front-line ticket resolution as needed.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of user knowledge articles.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to the principles set by the FCA, Howden regulations, GDPR, anti-money laundering laws, the Bribery Act 2010, and applicable sanctions.
  • Uphold Howden’s service standards and procedures, always acting in the best interests of clients.

Additional Information

  • A valid, clean driving license and willingness to travel occasionally as required.
