DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Driver

Join us and support PAHO’s country operations through safe, reliable, and efficient transport services

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), is seeking a dependable and service‑oriented Driver to support the operations of the PAHO/WHO Country Office in Venezuela by providing safe and efficient transportation and logistical support services.

PAHO Country Offices ensure that PAHO/WHO technical cooperation activities effectively support national health development and contribute to regional and global health agendas. Within this context, the Driver plays a key role in supporting field missions, office logistics, and security‑compliant transportation services.

Under the general guidance of the PAHO/WHO Representative (PWR/VEN), and the direct supervision of the Administrator, the selected candidate will:

• Drive official PAHO/WHO vehicles safely and efficiently, in accordance with established rules, regulations, and UN security procedures.
• Support the planning and execution of field missions, including route assessment, logistics, and coordination with UNDSS.
• Maintain vehicles in clean and good operating condition and report mechanical issues and maintenance needs.
• Keep accurate daily logs of vehicle usage, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
• Deliver correspondence, documents, packages, and supplies related to PAHO’s technical cooperation and humanitarian operations.
• Support general services activities, including document reproduction, inventory verification, and logistical assistance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What is required for this position?

Education

Essential: Certificate of completion of elementary education.
Desirable: Training in defensive driving, basic first aid, knowledge of basic automotive mechanics.

Experience

Essential: Two years of experience as a driver.
Desirable: Experience in executive driving; experience in governmental or international organizations; experience handling confidential information and/or documents.

Languages

Fluent knowledge of Spanish.

IT Skills

Demonstrated ability to effectively use a computer and utilize basic software programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.

The skills required are:
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and safe driving practices.
• Ability to operate and maintain vehicles, including basic minor repairs.
• Possession of a valid professional driver’s license.
• Knowledge of security procedures related to safe driving and protection of personnel.
• Ability to follow instructions, comply with established procedures, and meet assigned timelines.
• Reliability, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information and documents.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under operational pressure.

Duration of Contract

This is an initial 11-month assignment, with the possibility of extensions, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
