Summary of Job Duties:

The Computer Support Technician serves as the first point of contact for all IT-related incidents and service requests, delivering Tier I technical support for faculty, staff, and students. This role is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, networking, and account issues, while ensuring efficient ticket handling and clear, courteous communication. The technician supports end-users through phone, email, remote tools, and in-person assistance, maintaining accurate documentation and developing user guides and training materials as needed. Additional responsibilities include workstation setup, help desk operations support, and contributions to continuous service improvement. The position emphasizes excellent customer service, compliance with institutional policies and security standards, and ongoing professional development.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or related field.

  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of human resources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

  • Demonstrated customer service and teamwork skills.

  • Experience using IT ticketing systems and service desk operations.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve computer and networking issues.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.

  • Experience working in educational or research institutions.

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office 365 productivity tools.

  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users.
