Fictiv Exists to Enable Hardware Innovators to Build Better Products, Faster

Fictiv exists
to help product innovators create.

Fictiv is a global manufacturing and supply chain company that enables organizations to scale globally across Fictiv’s four global manufacturing centers in India, Mexico, China, and the U.S.. Companies use Fictiv to access high-quality production, optimize supply chain logistics, and mitigate supply chain risk—ensuring they can move from prototype to full-scale manufacturing with speed and confidence. To date, Fictiv has delivered more than 35 million commercial and prototype parts for industries such as aerospace, robotics, automotive, climate tech, and more, helping them innovate faster, free up precious resources, and drive profitable growth.

Computational Geometry Engineer

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA (Highly Preferred)
Remote Option: West Coast (California, Oregon, or Washington) for exceptional candidates
Travel: 0–10%

Work Authorization Requirement:
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders to be considered for this role.

About the Role

At Fictiv, Computational Geometry Engineers help us scale manufacturing beyond human limits.

You’ll work at the intersection of software engineering, geometry, and manufacturing, developing algorithms that analyze CAD models, extract critical features, and automate complex design-for-manufacturing (DFM) decisions. Your work directly enables faster, smarter transitions from prototype to production across our global manufacturing network.

You’ll collaborate in small, cross-functional teams that ship early and often. We value autonomy, technical curiosity, and thoughtful tradeoffs—giving you the freedom to explore new tools, approaches, and methodologies while solving challenging real-world problems.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead engineering projects
Guide projects from requirements clarification through solution design and execution, making informed tradeoffs between scope, quality, and schedule.
  • Expand automated manufacturing intelligence
Push the limits of automated reasoning over CAD models by adding support for increasingly complex manufacturing processes.
  • Develop geometry-driven algorithms
    • Analyze 3D models and 2D drawings
    • Extract salient geometric features for automation
    • Build heuristics to estimate pricing and machinability across multiple manufacturing processes
  • Turn production data into insight
Analyze datasets to power scalable DFM feedback, 3D visualization, and production-ready decision-making.

What We’re Looking For

Required / Strongly Preferred

  • Mechanical Engineering background with a focus on computational geometry
  • Strong C/C++ programming experience
  • Experience with computer graphics, simulations, or geometry-heavy systems (including video game engines)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; M.S. or PhD strongly preferred
  • Internship, academic research, or professional project experience in relevant domains

Preferred Experience

Graduate-Level Profile

  • M.S. or PhD in Computational Geometry, Computer Graphics, or a related field
  • Advanced C/C++ development experience

Industry Profile

  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Computational geometry
    • Computer graphics
    • Algorithm development
    • CNC and/or additive manufacturing (3DP) applications
    • Geometry-focused hobby or open-source projects

Nice to Have

  • AI and/or machine learning experience
  • Experience applying algorithms to real-world manufacturing constraints

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

This role routinely requires sitting, walking, talking, hearing, and using hands for keyboarding and fine manipulation. Occasional bending, reaching, and movement may be required.

Perks & Benefits

As part of your total compensation package, you will receive:

  • Competitive medical and dental insurance
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Monthly Virtual Work stipend
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Leave programs, including maternity, parental/bonding, and medical leave to care for yourself or a loved one
  • Onboarding setup, including a standing desk, laptop, monitor, and chair, plus a stipend for additional items such as headphones and blue light glasses
  • Company-paid annual retreat

Salary Range:
$140,000 – $190,000 per year, depending on experience

Why Fictiv

At Fictiv, the software you build directly shapes how the physical world is made. Your work won’t live in isolation—it will influence real manufacturing outcomes, impacting cost, quality, and speed at scale.

If you’re excited by deep technical challenges, real-world impact, and pushing the boundaries of automated manufacturing intelligence, we’d love to hear from you.
