Component Engineer - Onsite Position
We are looking for a Component Engineer to join our world class facility in Ottawa, ON.
As a member of the Components Engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining the electronic and electromechanical components for designs by identifying, qualifying, detailing and releasing components. Additionally, you will work with a variety of functional groups in support of the design, procurement, assembly and sustainment of circuit card assemblies.

Salary Range: $67,900 - $90,500 plus bonus opportunity

Your Challenge:
Source of Expertise in the area of Components Engineering
Assist design engineers in material selection & approval process
Create and maintain component materials using Agile PLM system throughout the entire component lifecycle
Interface with component suppliers, brokers, distributors, and manufacturers to maintain relationships and facilitate technical knowledge exchange
Generate specifications for custom component parts
Initiate/Authorize component substitutions made via Engineering Change Order (ECO), Material Substitution Request (MSR) and Approved Manufacturers Parts List (AMPL) updates
Maintain component data related to hazardous materials, REACH and RoHS.
Participate in design reviews for the purpose of material & component selection and standardization
Provide technical support in response to component obsolescence & availability issues
Provide guidance in support of broker parts use and counterfeit avoidance.
Coordinate failure analysis and corrective action activities on component quality issues
Support Reliability Analyses
Active role in identifying and isolating poor quality components during the production process
What You Bring:
Minimum 5 years industry experience
Experience supporting electronics design & manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of electronic and/or electro-mechanical component technology.
Experience with Agile, SAP or another PLM/MRP system
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Strong analytical, organizational and reporting skills
Completion of post-secondary education in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering/Technology (or equivalent)
