The Opportunity

We are seeking a Compliance Risk Manager Senior with expertise in Life, Health, and Annuities, who will provide essential second-line independent oversight and guidance for our business products, services, and processes. This role ensures that our operations align with regulatory requirements by implementing a robust compliance framework. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience in life, health, and annuities, along with a background in quality assurance, monitoring, and testing. A deep understanding of the stringent regulations governing health communications, such as HIPAA and healthcare marketing guidelines, is needed. Additionally, familiarity with health insurance products, plan designs, and industry-specific terminology is required. Knowledge of or experience with AI governance will also be helpful, as we strive to improve our compliance efforts through innovative solutions. We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Provides guidance to the business to ensure documents, projects, processes or product initiatives align with regulatory and legal requirements and enterprise policy.
  • Synthesizes analyses, identifies root cause(s) of potential compliance risk, provides recommendations that influence business solutions and validates resolution
  • Responsible for project management by leading and influencing cross functional enterprise or compliance teams.
  • Reviews implementation planning for new laws and regulations and ensures appropriate parties have been engaged.
  • Conveys information and position clearly, concisely, logically and in an organized manner.
  • Performs compliance risk management activities in accordance with enterprise compliance policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a resource to team members on compliance issues

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 6 or more years experience in compliance, risk, legal or audit within the financial services or insurance industry or niche technical fields directly related to the role.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Advanced knowledge in a specific area of compliance laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of regulatory compliance to consult and provide insight and guidance.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience providing guidance and standards to team members.

What sets you apart:

  • Two or more years of Life health and annuities
  • Experience working with quality assurance, monitoring, testing and oversight
  • Experience navigating the strict regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, healthcare marketing guidelines) that govern health communications
  • Experience with health insurance products, plan designs, and industry-specific terminology
  • Working experience or knowledge of AI Governance

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $103,450 - $197,730.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
